If We Tie With The Panthers Next Week

Carolina wins the division even if the Aints beat the Bucs. Why? NFL rules state that a tie equals half a win. Panthers 6-8-2 would match Aints 7-9 but the Panthers would have a better Divisional record.

Yup, the Aints are knocked out for sure.

In what world is 8 losses the same or worse than 9? All these tiebreaker rules are interfering with people's basic arithmetic skills.

It's based on losses not wins.

The Panthers would have one less loss than the Saints.

IDK...bro....

NFL Tiebreaking Procedures

The six postseason participants from each conference are seeded as follows:

  1. The division champion with the best record.
  2. The division champion with the second-best record.
  3. The division champion with the third-best record.
  4. The division champion with the fourth-best record.
  5. The Wild Card club with the best record.
  6. The Wild Card club with the second-best record.

The following procedures will be used to break standings ties for postseason playoffs and to determine regular-season schedules.

Where does it say 2 ties =1 win...? I'd like to see it for myself.

This? But what's this?

NOTE: Tie games count as one-half win and one-half loss for both clubs.

I can't find a link to it but trust me man. I've known for years that it's based off of the loss column, not the win column. Whomever has the the least amount of losses is the actual winner.

You're gonna have to trust us or find it for yourself but take a look at the nfl.com highlights for the game and at the end of it they say the Saints are out of playoff contention.

If everybody is saying it but you, then chances are.....LOL
