brando27
But we would be in the Super Bowl! Honestly, if that is not the outcome you are most excited about, I don't know what to say!Wasn't my take on that- he was just commenting on how differently this year can still end up.Because every team this division is having a worst case scenario year, Falcons can still, in week 15, either get a 10 ten pick or play in the super bowl.Yes, exactly. What a strange year. We've seen two 9-7 teams win the Super Bowl in the last four years. What's another game (or two)? Haha.

DriveHomeSafelyAtlantaWins
It would be the end of the phrase "Defense wins championships."
hjerry
SB or fired.I said earlier on in the season, that he'd need a minimum of a 2nd NFC Championship appearance to stay, and maybe not even then.

ryanadonis
If the Seahawks get that 6th spot or a team that can beat the number 1 team, than get your NFCCG tickets ready, I am coming BACK !!!
toadfishtom
If that scenario were to occur it would truly be miraculous.I would be happy to give Smitty another chance, however anything short of a superbowl win and Smitty's azz is kicked to the curb imo
twright21
Imagine that scenario with us winning the division with a 6-10 record. Then imagine the NFL champion being a .500 (10-10) team. And yet, it can happen.
jeffro2000
That would be the best case scenario for us no doubt. However, I just don't see Arizona beating Seattle next week and hanging on to that division. It is likely for them to be the 5 seed though so we would see them in rd 1 which is a very winnable game. After that though, it is likely off to GB or Seattle for Rd 2. The 6th seed will probably be Dallas or Detroit who would go against Philly rd 1. Basically, we would need to root for the 6th in order to host a 2nd game. I am pessimistic about even making the playoffs though.
falconidae
I just don't see Arizona beating Seattle next week and hanging on to that division.. I am pessimistic about even making the playoffs though. Why? Saints D is as bad as the Falcons, their Oline and WRs have gotten worse, they've lost 4 straight at home. Cam just broke bones in his back, his team was horrible anyway.Falcons are the best team in the division. And, don't think that SEA is a lock for that division. SEA could easily lose to SF this week or STL the week after the ARI game.
dirtybird2k5
Wouldn't it be awesome if an 8-8 or 7-9 regular season team won the Super Bowl?
DrunkOffFalcohol
If if a wild card tean wins out, we get to host two or 3 playoff games
CraigSmackDaddy
We played with Detroit when they didn't have Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, Ebron, or Pettigrew. And still lost.We almost beat them without Spoon, Moore, Baker, Mass, and Hawley. See it goes both ways. Folks want to say injuries are part of the game but it doesn't seem to get mentioned when it benefits the Falcons

ATLFalcons11
We played with Detroit when they didn't have Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, Ebron, or Pettigrew. And still lost. You should have just stopped at Calvin Johnson. Those other 3 players have done absolutely nothing this whole season.
blkbigdog35
I'm not going to lie OP i agree it would be a best case scenario! They control their own destiny by winning the next three games and we get to host a playoff game at 8-8.
falconidae
If if a wild card tean wins out, we get to host two or 3 playoff games best case is 2 home games. Which is what I have in OP. Second week there will be two higher seeds.
falconidae
Or they drop the next 3, get a top 7 pick. Sigh, at the moment, just don't care, this team just can't get out of its own way. Too many mistakes all around. Timid coaching-missed blocks, missed tackles, bad throws, drops, stupid penalties, yet another Olineman goes down. We probably are better on paper (w/Julio), but I am not getting my hopes up for them to be dashed by them. I hope we win the next 2, but I remain pessimistic. I just expect a fumble, int, penalty something stupid that leads to a loss. When you can't pressure a QB thus stop anybody, you put too much pressure on the offense every series. Payton also plays to win, instead of not to lose. Edited December 14, 2014 by jeffro2000
