NOVAFalconFan
unlike our current coach, at least he can get to it.What's the difference?
Dharma Initiative
Your acceptance of mediocrity makes Randy Cross cry. Seriously, you get a certain number of years. He is Bobby Cox now and trending down. Going to the NFC Championship and Super Bowl is mediocrity? What do you call the Falcons now then? NOVAFalconFan
Considering he has as many in his 3 years as head coach as this franchise has in it's existence, it's an improvement. Are you only going to select from Super Bowl winning coaches this offseason? Maybe we can land Bill Cowher, who took 13 years to win the Super Bowl with the Steelers. Or I guess we'll get GrudenThink I would rather hire a guy who has never been there than one who has and lost.
Dharma Initiative
What's the difference? Can't have a chance to win it if you're not going to it can you?
NOVAFalconFan
Going to the NFC Championship and Super Bowl is mediocrity? What do you call the Falcons now then?Uh, I call them bad. What do you call them?
Dharma Initiative
Think I would rather hire a guy who has never been there than one who has and lost. So no to Harbaugh because he hasn't won the big one, but has gotten to it. But yes to a guy that hasn't even gotten to it. don't see where you're going, but OK
Moist Words
So then I guess 31 head coaches should be fired each yearNews flash: we're the Atlanta Falcons, not the Pittsburgh Steelers where only Super Bowls are improvement and successHonestly by the premise of this argument Smith would be a vastly superior coach. That is unless you rank Dimitroff a better GM versus Baalke. NOVAFalconFan
Can't have a chance to win it if you're not going to it can you?Not interested in chances, that's loser talk. Like being happy about going to the playoffs five, or possibly six, times in seven years.
Dharma Initiative
Not interested in chances, that's loser talk. Like being happy about going to the playoffs five, or possibly six, times in seven years. Then it sounds like Mike Smith is your coach. Meanwhile Harbaugh might go to the playoffs 4 times in 4 years, he for sure would be if his team was in the NFC South

Dharma Initiative
No, you are making the argument that Mike Smith would. I am not interested in that. Big difference in a guy winning 1 playoff game in 7 years, compared to a guy that's made the 49ers one of the two best NFC teams every year in his tenure. I guess we can hope the Patriots don't win the Super Bowl and they fire him for being a failure along with 30 other head coaches

Dharma Initiative
Not really. They both failed. Yeah I think people look at the Falcons and 49ers equally because neither won the Super Bowl
Moist Words
How so?Well Harbaugh has a vastly more talented team due to the GM's ability at drafting and acquiring players. While Smith had a much less talented team in the NFCchampionship against said team and held his own.For the record I do think Harbaugh could be a better HC. NOVAFalconFan
Yeah I think people look at the Falcons and 49ers equally because neither won the Super Bowl So we need to do better in the power rankings, then?
Dharma Initiative
So we need to do better in the power rankings, then? Well hopefully the next coach wins us the Super Bowl in 2015 or we need to fire him and get another until we find one that does
NOVAFalconFan
Same team Nolan and Singletary had that was under .500 every year, no one called them talented back then until Harbaugh came along and they turned aroundBased on what I am seeing, that talent was starting to come together independent of coaching. One of the big moves of his tenure was getting rid of Alex Smith. He would be a lot better off with Smith now.
