Which is one of the main reasons he has to be fired. You can't tell me after this, the London debacle, almost blowing it in Carolina and the lack of adjustments/conservative play calling this season that the players still BELIEVE in Smitty as a coach. Nobody believes in him and those players have been playing football for years. Their football IQ is much higher than people realize. They know stupid decisions when they see them. I absolutely feel like they're sitting there saying "WTF?!?"

Roddy is not really putting out anything major here - he did not call out specific plays or decisions just the general tempo we ran at. And, even then, he did not say it was totally wrong just that he thought it could have been faster.

On the other hand, I will admit that Ryan as usual is ready to back up the coaches 100% with the stupid call on 3rd down to Hester. I wish he would realize that he could call Smith a total moron and his job and salary would still be safe as Ryan is the face of this franchise.

No, he doesn't need to do it. It's not his job. He's not happy I'm sure but QBs calling out people leads to a bunch of scrutiny and people talking about how they lack leadership, etc. Incredibly stupid as it may be that's what it is and we all know Matt is the king of playing things by the book in interviews, etc.

Plenty of others can and will. We all know it was arguably the most boneheaded decision we've seen in the NFL this season. People that don't even know much about football know that. If the Falcons were more popular we'd hear more about it. He won't be the coach here much longer and I'm sure Matt realizes that.
