William Moore returning to practice for Falcons

The Falcons are currently in first place in the NFC South and their bid to go from 2-6 to a playoff team could get a boost from the return of safety William Moore in the near future.

Moore is currently on injured reserve with the designation to return as a result of a shoulder injury and is eligible to resume practicing with the team, something that will happen this week. The Falcons officially listed Moore as returned to practice on Tuesdays league transaction report, freeing him to get back on the field with a couple of weeks to work his way back into form before hes eligible to play in Week 13.

Kemal Ishmael has been filling in on the back end of the defense with Moore out of the lineup. Neither Ishmael nor anyone else on the unit has been able to keep the Falcons from allowing the most passing yards per game in the entire league,

Moores return probably wont make for a major change on that front, but the more options the better for the Falcons as they try to take advantage of a down year in the division.

Hate to say it but the D has looked better with Ish. Not sure how I feel about Willy coming back.

You think it's looked better because of Kemal? Lol

Ishmael has outplayed WillyMo IMO. He's been just as good in run support but has put himself in position to take advantage of turnovers which has been huge. He's had his struggles in coverage but WillyMo was struggling worse last season and the 3 games he played this season

Willy Mo also didn't have a competent safety beside him last year and everybody struggled on defense beyond Willy Mo and past him getting injured.

It's really been the last 3 weeks, not including bye of course, where things have picked up slightly. I think with the defense having some sort of identity that he will be a welcomed addition. We need to go 3 safeties a good bit though. That secondary minus the RCB seems to be our strength.

No no no, I didn't mean to imply that Ishmael has been the reason the D has played better. Though he has made some spectacular plays.

I was just noting that the D is playing better now with the current personnel then it was when WillyMo was back there. I am hesitant to get excited about changing such a fragile part of the team when they finally are playing adequately. Look at the D through the first 4 weeks and look at it over the last 4. At least to me, on the eye test, the difference is night and day. If the D was playing the way they are playing now and the offense was actually clicking, this team would be a lot better than 4-6.

I love WIlly Mo, by far my favorite player on Defense, I am just not all that comfortable shaking things up at the moment.

I agree......... The difference IMO is the fact Nolan is not trying to be in the words of my friend KOG " too cute"

Our defensive formations are making more sense and we are not seeing our guys do ill suited things as much... IE having Jackson or Soliai try and twist and stunt as much.. Beirman is not in coverage on 1 on on 1 with a wr etc etc

Smitty said they would simplify the defense and it seems that they have..............and like you said the difference has been noticeable.
