The Name Game

someone in TATF asked

what would you do if you were the HC/GM of your team in 2015....

since its very likely 1 or more of us NFC South Guys will be firing theirs, i ask the question here...

my response their was, I would play the Name Game

sign

Jordan Cameron

and Cameron Jordan

that gives us a solid Pass Rusher

and an all Pro TE

I would go back to a 4-3 base with the DT Talent we have

I would again draft O Line Help and look to upgrade the LB core

I would resign

M Bryant

A Smith

and S Weatherspoon (he will come cheap and deserves another yr)

I would cut S Baker

I would not resign Osi or Beirmann

I would look for 2 young and aggressive Cords, both O and D

on O a risk taker that knows how to work with Elite QBs

on D , an Aggressive Mind he77 bent on stopping the run and who would play more Man Coverage

Cam is signed next year. They picked up his option.

I signed him on Madden lol

5 yrs 40mil lol

seems like they would have updated that, if Saints picked up his Option , he should not have been available .....

they are usually good about those contract updates...

oh well , Guess I will have to trade him back to Saints, at least they will take a 40 mil hit lol....

Yeah they picked up his option.

To be fair to Jordan, he's near or at the top of the league in QB hurries. When you have corners as bad as the Saints, anytime you get pressured, just throw it towards Corey White. Nothing bad can come from that. He's eating a ridiculous amount of doubles.

Well Shred if you did it on Madden it must be true!

you would be surprised how accurate Madden is

Granted I made the move to sign him as a FA, but that would not be a far fetched Signing if Saints had not picked up the Option....

thats why i am kinda Shocked he was not updated with the Saints Option...

they are on Point with that Sh!t....

oh I Like him as a Pass Rusher

hes worlds better than anything we have going after the QB....

Mass is a Solid DE , but he is more of an all around DE, Better vs The Run than rushing the passer IMO, Osi , is just Old now.... he was great, But it was a huge Mistake signing him and Cutting Abe.....

Just another Reason , M Smith should not be the Only Guy Looking over his Shoulder in the ATL

mass is an excellent pass rusher when he's allowed to play. he let the media get to him and he started running his mouth about his playing time now he's the team's ugliest cheerleader.

i did not see a great pass rusher when he was getting snaps

99.9 % of Our Pressure , has come from the DTs, the Other 00.1% coming from P Warrilow lol

I saw a Solid DE

and you are right, he was better than anyone else out there @ DE

But not a Great Pass Rusher

Great Pass Rushers Have Multi Sack Games

Great Pass Rushers Take their Playing Time, dont matter what they say, Unless its Bomb in an Airport lol

Cameron Jordan ranked 2nd to only JJ Watt last year according to PFF. He's improved his sakc #s in every year in the league (1sack->8sacks->12sacks), and last year was his breakout year when we had a pair of solid corners.

He came out of college as a solid run stuffer, and a decent pass rusher, which he is (+5.2 this year against the run). Most of the runs against us are usually up the gut or towards Junior Galette because teams know he is pretty bad. Also, like someone ^ said, he has a lot of QB hits/hurries that you don't see on paper.

He may not be our best pure pass rusher, but he is our best defensive lineman. We did pick up his option: 6.969mil in 2015.

Not bad for a RDE that can play tackle as well, right?

It's unfortunate for mass that he was held 5 times against the Ravens. He played the majority of that game and was a force. He just hasn't had the snaps to get the multiple sacks. Almost 30 percent of his snaps against the pass he was sent into coverage.

Our defense is a cluster **** of poor decisions and mistakes like this one.

shred, to further my point I did some looker'n into mass' snaps.

he's affected the qb in some way 17 percent of the time he's rushed the passer. thats hurries, hits, sacks.

to put that in perspective. cam jordan has affected the qb 9 percent of the times he's rushed.

of course, it's easy to say with a smaller amounts of snaps percentages can be skewed, but the fact is, he's been disruptive in his opportunities.

Situational uses can also skew percentages. Cams a 3 down player. I've not understood why Mass hasn't gotten more opportunities to be on the field though.

yes, but im just referring to the number of snaps that were passing plays where he rushed the passer.

mass has rushed the passer 90 times while cam is in the 350 neighborhood. but like i said, if mass had cams snaps (which lead the league) his percentage of disruptive plays would go down probably, but you would see his sack numbers grow

i wasnt trying to pick on cam though, i just used him as an example because that's who shred mentioned as a replacement. the fact is, if cam were a falcon, he would look like **** because he'd be out there running down slot receivers and taking notes from the sideline lol.

we'd have to assume the next coach would use our players properly, mass has not been used properly.

I know what you were saying. I was just pointing out that situational uses probably skews percentages just as much as limited number of snaps.

Mass obviously comes in on obvious pass rush situations. How many times does he get to come in and rush a tired tackle on third down? How many times does he have to deal with play action? Things like that. Situational guys, no matter what team, should get graded differently lol.

i dont know that he's come in on obvious passing situations. hes played more against the run I believe anyways.

i guess being the fresh man to come in on a worn out tackle could affect things, that would fall under what I said about his percentage going down though I would imagine.

but just to note, there isn't another defender within his range of snaps that come close to his production except moore from the giants i believe.

Yeah. Somebody should sticky note the percentages to Smiths forehead.
