The O.D.B
Compressing the Offense. While watching a bit of the Cardnials game yesterday (I live in AZ) I heard the commentators make a comment about what trust the coaches have in Stanton, Allowing him to pass on 3rd and X against the best defense in the NFL.After hearing this I reflected on their injuries and season in general and what I noticied in retrospect was the coaches don't change the scheme to cover up their player losses, they go to a "True" next man up mentality. They put the next guy in and let him play. Meanwhile, Our Falcons appear to dail things back to account for our injuries. We appear to run short passes or runs which allow the defense to compress the windows making it insanley hard for Matt to get the ball to someone. I know it's a crazy thought but, maybe we need to trust our players, open things up and see what happens. Excuses: *Matt won't have time to throw a long route - Last time I checked he has more time that ARod and a few others who are getting the job done. *Our talent level is to low for this - We are not the most banged up team in the NFL. Teams like Philly and NE have suffered more losses on the Oline but, they didn't change their game. It only takes a few plays over the heads of defenders before other D-Coaches will make adjustments. If it doesn't work, well, we'll look just like we do now.
A Dog Named Brian
This board baffles me lol. When we were losing players to injury and dropping games left and right everyone was calling for us to simplify everything and that's what we did. Now we have to go back to complicating things? I understand where you're coming from but Arizona has a competent coaching staff, us not so much. Don't get me wrong, I love our Falcons but the bubble screen is here to stay. dirtybird2k5
And you will notice that Stanton did not really play well after the first quarter. Luckily for them, they have a pretty good defense.

With some more spread offense plays I promise Matt could do more damage than Stanton.

Yea, I get what you're saying. It's just really hard to try and open things up like that when our offensive line keeps changing week in and week out. I'm amazed we haven't tried roll-out type plays, we used to have success with that and occasional screen passes. Then that would set up a dee shot down field a few times a game. Sadly our offense was more balanced when we used to run it like that.
Dharma Initiative
O line hasn't been an issue in a couple of weeks and our offense still looks weak
raysnill1
O line hasn't been an issue in a couple of weeks and our offense still looks weakYep, cause they still running plays like the line is an issue and ironically that's making the line an issue lol
PriMeTiiMe
Must be nice to have that defense. Just imagine if they were healthy, That defense would be insane.

If it doesn't work, well, we'll look just like we do now. In today's nfl, especially with the rules as they are, you HAVE to throw the ball deep at least 3 times a game. I don't care if it hits. You just do it. It's like the running game. You may not gain a yard, but you do it for attitude. If you don't, teams will smother you. I was SCREAMING for a deep ball Sunday. And then I finally saw one. When Cam threw the go ahead TD. Arrrrggggh
