Sorry if you give Matt a good O-Line and a good Defense he would be hard to beat. I don't think Ryan has had both at the same time. Even in 2012 the Falcons defense was ok and at times good. Still not what I would have called a Super Bowl team. Maybe with another coach they would have been the team to beat that year. I still think Smith made some bonehead calls that hurt the 2012 team going into the playoffs.

We have all seen Ryan with a small window of time. He can carve up any defense then. As long as the WR's do get that chicken to take a hit going again.

Ryan may not be the best QB but I would take him on a team I was going to build before 94% of what is in the NFL now.

Matt Ryan is why I am not Thrilled at being pass happy. He is not as good as many make him to be. Fantasy numbers...sure.

He isn't Drew Brees. He isn't Peyton or Brady.

That isn't a bad thing, but it is if you try to play his similarly to how they are used.

He is a GREAT play action QB, makes good decisions, and is money on short and medium throws.

He is NOT an air it out kind of guy.

i can tell you're new...this isn't a new thought from me.

No, I'm not new. You love Michael Turner and you hate the new pass happy NFL. Now that we've gotten that out of the way....

Show me an offense that was successful after losing as many players as we have on the offensive line. We can put our defensive struggles on the back-burner for a moment. Just point out some teams for me and let's do some comparative analysis.

How did Brady look earlier this year when his offensive line was asleep at the wheel? Anyone?

Can you point out some years where Brady, Peyton or Brees had to play behind a line as poor as ours?

Do any of you remember Peyton Manning losing playoff game after playoff game when his teams had "protection issues" < direct quote from Manning?

This is a team sport. The attention people lavish on the quarterback position is absolutely absurd. If the quarterback position was as important as people make it out to be, Peyton Manning would have a fistful of rings. He doesn't, though. Despite how insanely talented he is.

Its not the coaching

Its not an atrocious defense

Its not a TE that can't catch

It's not high profile Wr dropping balls

It's not Orange cones for Olineman

It's not the incompetent Running game

the problem is our probowl Qb

seems legit

Guest Homer the Brave

No, he's not a Brady, Manning, Rodgers, or Brees, but his IS at least a Flacco, Eli, Dilfer, and perhaps Wilson or Big Ben... All who have rings.

Football games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. It's always been that way, and I'm guessing it will never change. In my opinion, if your team is getting beat on both sides of the line, nothing else matters. I don't care if you have Joe Montana and Calvin Johnson, if your offensive line is one of the worst in the league, you won't go far. Likewise, if your defensive front gets pushed around and can't get pressure on the quarterback, nothing else matters. I don't care if you have Ray Lewis and Ronnie Lott, you won't go far. The funny thing is, no one will tell you you are wrong when you say "this game is won in the trenches", but when you apply that logic to an actual team, people will still talk about other variables. Cognitive dissonance, imo....
