These are the people I would start with, i'm sure more will be removed from the roster before i was done.

Yates, S.Jackson, J. Smith, Konz, Blalock, Baker, Carimi, Johnson

Babineaux, Biermann, Matthews, Umenyiora, Weatherspoon,

My HC would be David Shaw

I still believe the best way to build a team is through the draft, so we would need someone that can draft.

I have posted criteria for my WR and TE.

The packers vs the saints was interesting. They said the packers wanted Davante Adams to emerge as a 3rd option. The saints were playing two deep safety all night. If they double Nelson and Cobb that is why I guess they said that about Adams. Who is our 3rd option? HD is but TG was more of a presence in the middle. We need that back. We also need to sign Hawley to a 4 yr deal. Ryan was stepping up into a good pocket before he went down and the extra tick or two made a huge difference.

Defensively is another matter. I would like to address each position in its own thread as the content could be quite lengthy.

We need an all out philosophy change. We've built this team outside in w/ wr's, rbs, and corners. We need to build inside out. Offensive lineman first, the. D line.

Part of me wonders if TD hasn't learned that lesson and isn't worth keeping him around as bad as he's been.

Jake Matthews

Rashede Hageman

Paul Solali

Tyson Jackson

Jon Asamoah

I'm pretty sure he learned his lesson unlike Mike Smith.

We need a pass rush to be relevant on defense. They take time to develop so we need to cut all the 3 and 4 mil scrubs and put all our eggs in one basket with a 10 mil man. Justin Houston is probably about to get paid.

Atleast one LB needs to be a savvy vet presence. Worrilow might be fine as an accomplice. Weatherspoon on a one year deal might be ok but insurance would be welcome with what looks like a weak LB class. I like Perryman a lot but I think he is gone before our turn. Herrera later would be good.

Offensively we need our wounded back 100% on OL and we need a #1 TE that can beat man coverage. Eventually we need a #2 WR as White slows down and ends up working the slot.

Most of all we need a plan that works and teachers that get the results on the field that they design in the class room.

Offense

--Quarterback--

2 Ryan, Matt - QB

12 Renfree, Sean - QB

13 Yates, T.J. - QB

The back-up QBs can stay, and there is no reason to move on from Ryan. Yes, his contract is expensive, but so is any other proven QBs. Unless we find a way to trade him and start with a rookie (which, is that really an attractive alternate?)...he is here.

--Running Back--

32 Rodgers, Jacquizz - RB

24 Freeman, Devonta - RB

35 Smith, Antone - RB

I would like to add a true power runner to the mix. I love Gurley, but it doesnt have to be him. If Quizz leaves, then he leaves. But these three are valuable and Smith is a great special teams guy.

42 DiMarco, Patrick - FB

He has done a solid job and deserves to stick around. I wouldnt mind seeing us pick up another FB to add some power and depth to the position. We need to start using the FB more.

--Tight End--

80 Toilolo, Levine - TE

86 Pascoe, Bear - TE

I like Toilolo, and Pascoe is good at what he does...similar to the FB position. We need to add some size and depth. Maybe a FB/TE hybrid (H-Back).

--Wide Recevier--

14 Weems, Eric - WR

84 White, Roddy - WR

83 Douglas, Harry - WR

17 Hester, Devin - WR

11 Jones, Julio - WR

18 Martino, Freddie - WR

89 Reedy, Bernard - WR

No real reason to change any of this. Maybe we add a new guy to help replace Roddy in a few years, but other than that we are fine honestly.

-- Offensive Line --

61 Hawley, Joe - C

62 Stone, James - C

We need to cut Konz. he has proven he is bad. Stone is a solid guy to have on your practice squad and Hawley is a nice backup/spot starter. Wouldnt mind adding a new starter here though...I can life with Hawley though

68 Carimi, Gabe - OL

69 Gunn, Harland - G

63 Blalock, Justin - G

75 Asamoah, Jon - G

Not the worst position on the roster, but I would like to upgrade over Blalock and move Asamoah to the left side to make room for a run blocking RG. Gunn is solid enough as a backup, and Carimi can play G....he would probably be better at G.

76 Holmes, Lamar - T

73 Schraeder, Ryan - T

70 Matthews, Jake - T

Really ugly position....Baker has to go. Period. Its time. Matthews needs to take over that left side, and despite some struggles, he should be fine. Schrader is a good backup, Carimi should be moved to G..Holmes can be kept as depth, but RT is something that needs to be upgrad

Defense

I see our front seven differently...

--Inside guys--

92 Robertson, Travian - DT

96 Soliai, Paul - DT

91 Peters, Corey - DT

95 Babineaux, Jonathan - DT

99 Jackson, Tyson - DE

93 Goodman, Malliciah - DE

77 Hageman, Ra'Shede - DE

I love Goodman and Shede. We need to build around those two. I really wish we hadnt signed Jackson or Soliai, but they are here. Babs is solid and Peters contributes. Robertson is depth. Im fine with this group.

--Edge Players--

71 Biermann, Kroy - DE

90 Maponga, Stansly - DE

94 Massaquoi, Jonathan - DE

98 Matthews, Cliff - DE

50 Umenyiora, Osi - DE

54 Starr, Tyler - LB

Not gonna remove names, but Biermann needs to go, along with Osi. Everyone else can stay. I like Mass as a starter next year and Maponga as a situational rusher. Cliff and Starr are kind of whatever...but they provide some depth...

--Linebackers--

52 Stupar, Nate - LB

51 Spruill, Marquis - LB

56 Weatherspoon, Sean - LB

55 Worrilow, Paul - LB

53 Shembo, Prince - LB

59 Bartu, Joplo - LB

45 Smith, Jacques - OLB

Not gonna bother sorting through the names, but Spoon should be brought back cheap. Worrilow needs to learn how to cover. Bartu and Shembo are decent backups. Adding an athletic guy who can shed blocks would be a huge upgrade....I love Alec Ogletree. He is everything a LB needs to be. Or LaVonte David. Those are prototype guys. We need one of those. Spoon is kinda like that, but we need the real deal. A tough nosed SOB who can run all day. We need a leader on the defense.

A tough nosed SOB who can run. all. day. Period. We need one haha

--Cornerback--

21 Trufant, Desmond - CB

26 Wilson, Josh - CB

27 McClain, Robert - CB

23 Alford, Robert - CB

28 Arenas, Javier - CB

37 Allen, Ricardo - CB

Not a bad group at all, and Alford competes. He will get better. These guys have been asked to do too much. We need a pass rush before we can evaluate these guys.

--Safety--

Free

41 Southward, Dezmen - S

20 Lowery, Dwight - S

I really like Lowery. And Southward might be the most athletic player on our team. I can live with this.

Strong

22 Motta, Zeke - S

25 Moore, William - S

36 Ishmael, Kemal - S

Solid position with some depth. Ishmael isnt perfect, but Ill take him as a backup....Moore needs to stay healthy though....

Special Teams

5 Bosher, Matt - P

3 Bryant, Matt - K

47 Harris, Josh - LS

whatever....

So, overall after looking at the roster we need:

RB

FB/TE

C

RG

RT

Edge Rusher

LB

LB and Edge Rusher are HUGE needs. Massive. The defense isnt as bad as it looks, but that just goes to show how badly we need a pass rusher and a LB. We need those two spots. Badly. I really cant stress it enough.

On offense, Id like a RB that can power the ball whenever he wants. A RT and RG would be nice (this is assuming we move Asamoah to LG, which doesnt have to happen. We just need to replace Blalock because he sucks). And some quality depth at Center is needed. Id like a starter, but with all the other big needs, I'll accept Hawley as the starter and just take some competent depth. And we need to add a big man to the FB/TE group. We need depth there and we need size. It has to happen.

I would start at the top. First hire a new gm Trent Kirshner assistant gm from Seattle. Hire Dan Quin as head coach.

Cut Biermann,Cliff Matthews,Babs,Yates,Jop and Carimi

Hopefully these guys do this.

Go back to a base 4-3 with a good front four, faster linebackers and play power

run football on offense.

Sign Hali or Houston on defense. And sign a Rt,a fullback and olb.

Draft Williams or trade down for Gurley. For the rest of the draft work on the lines, secondary and linebackers. And please draft a corner over 6ft?

Thank You.

in other words....Start the F over!

No true words have been spoken. Hit the RESET Button....everyone is clinging to the past (reliving victories mentally) trying to make these guys (in their mind) something that they are obviously not

Admit that the team/staff took some gambles and that they ultimately haven't payed off (it's part of the process) smile.png

Start by rebuilding the lines. Nothing else matters until you have an O-line and D-line that can dominate, and that includes building some depth. You have to build through the draft. Buying future Hall of Fame free agents who are past their prime is little more than a band aid at best for a couple of years and ties up cap money.

The down side is that could take several years.

Then you build a line backer squad that can own the field. Again, several years.

By then, Roddy is over the hill and all the band aids are retired. The good news is JJ is still around and the young running backs have matured. The D-backs should have grown into their jobs by then leaving a solid D and a functioning O.

If you bring in a new coaching staff, you probably get a new system, which can be readily absorbed by the players during the rebuilding period.

I figure a three to four year process to make the team real contenders. The bad news for the owner is the rebuilt team won't be ready to strut their stuff by the time PSLs hit, but would be ready to break in the new stadium with style.

Draft Gurley #1, G Vadal Alexander top of second, Alvin Dupree OLBer 3rd. Transition back to power running game and West Coast type pass attack.

Chitcan multiple useless contracts like Beer, Sjax, Blalock, etc.....Sign Jason Worilds Louis Delmas and Brandon Graham in FA . Something like this would work for me. Look for a seam splitting TE and WR depth later rounds.
