SyCo
6 games in he has around 250 yards. Ranked 63 in nfl, after a ton of ties though. That might be what's expected considering how he's used and the type of player he is But shouldn't we expect our first rounders to be immediate impact players? Especially if we trade up for them? So was this a win or fail for the Saints?
nola90
With the OL struggles, this offense hasn't been on point with the passing game.32 receptions, 255 yards, 1 TD5 carries, 64 yards15 first downsI'm happy with the production, but I know it could be better if the OL could block up the middle. st. diehard
Five games in, he's doing aight. Can't catch what isn't thrown. On pace for a rookie record 102 receptions.Hard to determine why he hasn't connected on some deeper routes yet, but that seems a team issue thus far. Team has a lot of redzone targets and it'll be interesting to see if he gets more looks with Graham out.
nola90
He hasn't connected on deep routes because he hasn't been running many at all, but neither has Stills. They've both been running shorter/intermediate routes due to the lack of time Brees has to throw. I think (hopefully) as the OL improves through the season, we'll see a better influx of numbers. As of right now, I'm disappointed by the lack of a "playmaking" TD from Cooks, but his production is spot on and already better than similar receivers of his stature (Cobb/Austin/Brown) in their first year. What I'm not disappointed in is his great control, willingness to take a hit, and stickum hands. It reminds me of Colston when he first came into the league, throw anything to him and it sticks. Edited October 15, 2014 by nola90

PantherWake
He's been pretty good...better than Cooks not doubt! The funny thing is I really wanted both but I wanted Cooks more over KB cause I saw SS89 in Cooks but their is still time. Big Bubba
Cooks is what he is. They are not using him right. He should be their deep threat target. I liked Cooks out of the draft, but was hoping and praying the Panthers would take KB instead, if Cooks was there when we picked, that is. Small and speedy WRs can be special, but it was time.. I wanted badly a #1 WR that was a monster in height and wing span. Something the Panthers have lacked since forever. Next year we need a speedy WR that can compliment KB. nola90
He shouldn't be running majority of his routes short 5-10 yards, but intermediate/deep routes. He has the wheels to make big plays, but as of right now Colston and Cooks are the only two receivers that can actually run short routes and take hits. Colston has looked pretty weird to start the season as well and Stills has been hampered with a quad injury so he's run deep routes sparingly. Which leaves us to Morgan and Meachem...who are both pretty horrid as of this year, tons of drops and just lack of effort imo.We have a "giant" receiver in Graham right now, but we needed a speedy "X" factor so we took Cooks. Too bad our interior line has decided to take the jump off a ledge through 5 games so we can't see what he can do yet.
DatMan
It's not Cooks. Cooks has run 64 fade routes this year and hasn't been targeted one time. I personally think Brees is still dealing with that oblique strain. They've been running the Chad Pennington offense all season and there's no other explanation for it. saints4life25
Cooks has caught just about everything thrown his way. The dudes got glue on his hands. Teams have seemed to drop both safeties way deep and let the Saints have the short and intermediate stuff all day. That's why his YPC is what it is, and poorly executed/called screen passes. I think he was worth the trade up. He's the only rookie receiver I can think of that hasn't struggled with drops so far.
Big Bubba
KB with a mild concussion right now. The glory of Burfict keeps on going. He was flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver, on that hit. 25k fine for that game. For Burfict. Graham received a 30k fine for dunking on the goalpost. SaintRay
I haven't read a single reply yet, but at this point its way to early to judge Cooks. He doesn't drop balls, he does everything asked of him. I do wonder why they haven't sent him deep on go routes.
nola90
So the team has asked him to average 8.0 ypc Ray Bob? The team hasn't asked him to go on any deep routes yet? Have you asked yourself why that is? Could it have something to do with Payton being st**le? Or Something to do with Breesus? The deep said when they drafted him he would big the big play deep threat guy...WFW and everyone else would like to know what the saints aren't telling us?Or something about the worst (if not the worst, I guarantee bottom 3) interior OL in pass protection this year. We haven't thrown it deep much at all, when it does, most of the time its something crashing into brees.
DatMan
Are Saints fans or anyone actually reading the posts or even watching the games???I'll repeat this one more time. Cooks has run 64 fade routes so far this season and has not been targeted ONCE!! That's an average of 12.8 go routes per game and they haven't thrown it deep to him yet. DatMan
Breesus? Because Payton is calling the routes then...The oblique is my theory and I'm sticking to it. One of these games he's going to let it fly and it won't look like a lame duck under thrown by 5 yards. I know guys lose arm strength as they age but an injury to your core muscles makes more sense than a massive decline in arm strength in one offseason. Especially when you consider the kind of shape he's in.

The entire delivery seems slowed. Hopefully the bye week was a week enough to let it fully heal.
