Same general manager they've had for the last 15 years

Same coach they've had going on 5 years

Same QB they've had since 2006

Did jerry jones suddenly become a great GM

Garrett overnight become a brilliant coach

No

They drafted 3 OL in the first round of the last 3 drafts,...protect Romo, Then they became more balanced on offense,

They probably have the best 4some in the league

Romo, Witten, Bryant and Murray

They finally drafted better players, and their defense is good enough, not great...to compliment the offense,,even with letting players like Ware go...

Might this be our example??? Ugh

What's worse, I lived in Dallas for 14 years, Through the super bowl years, I hated every minute of it

I was on the field for the game where JAM tore his ACL after the super bowl year...

But I can see Blank looking at this, like the Steelers, Giants and Patriots do....stability And not doing anything

I do think Blank leans more towards the model of stability for managing the franchise, however if we have another 4-12 type season, do you think he can just let it ride? I think Blank will be forced to act. Unlike the Steelers and Patriots, the Falcons fan base is much more fairweather than those teams. Steelers and Pats can have a couple of bad seasons and still count on good ticket sales and attendance. For Falcons fans to buy the PSLs in the new stadium and show up for the games, Blank really needs a winning team on the field. If we open that new stadium in 2017 and it's half full, Blank will really regret the "do nothing" approach

What's sadder is Jones actually has a Superbowl ring... TD has his bike.

He should ride his vegetarian *** outta Atlanta with it

Well technically TD has as many superbowl rings as Jones does,

And Jones was lucky he had one of the best talent evaluators in the game in Jimmy Johnson and the fact that the vikings were so stupid to give up so many players for Walker.

Ever since Johnson walked and his players retired the cowboys have been a joke of a organization only being relevant every few years.

And TD has ZERO control over nolan and the defensive coaches trying to turn space eating DT's into quick penetration types or having our best pass rushers do every but rush the passer.

It's a good place to look, honestly.

The Cowboys were a stubborn team and refused balance...until this year. More running equals success. They have a great OL and have finally realized it.

On defense, they were projected to be a historically bad defense this year after being historically bad last year. Why have they been so good? It's not overwhelming personnel. A time of possession conscious offense helps, but it looks like they found the right coach for their defense that puts the personnel they have in the best places for success.

It's early, but their success has been interesting to watch.

It would be a good example to follow IMHO, except it begs the question: who would pick the talent? I personally have no faith whatsoever in TD or his scouting department anymore in their evaluation of draft talent. I am not giving them any great credit for Matthews either as it was the easiest pick any one of us could have made. Of course, if we keep playing like this then the Cowboys model could work as we would be consistently picking in the top 5 where any neophyte who reads the draft reviews could make a decent pick of an O-lineman.

Serious question... why are you so fixated on another man's diet? Seems like 3/4 of your posts have some ignorant jab about his being a vegetarian, as if that is somehow even remotely pertinent to the discussion of his job as the GM of this team.

Have to disagree strongly here.. change is needed. We've had stability for the last 7 years, it's time for change.

Really???

Tell you what I am going to give a chance to change that before I make you look absolutely stupid for saying it.

When have the Boys had a 6-16 stretch?

Have to go all the way back to the early 2000 teams coached by Campo that resulted in him getting fired. Even that team didn't hit 4-12 lows despite having a franchise QB. They were in the process of transitioning beyond Troy Aikman.

Hard to think of many teams hitting the lows the current Falcons have hit despite getting excellent QB play. It's hard to lose this consistently with a ~top 8 QB. TD, Smitty & Co. have somehow found a way to.

We get it. We were built for the short run. That run is way over.

I do think Dallas is a good example of coaching making a difference. Their D was historically bad last year, they lost Ware, Sean Lee got injured, the guy they picked in the second round got hurt but they have performed much better. Hard to find any real stars or standout players, but they seem to be getting the job done and play with a lot of toughness. Marinelli was a big upgrade over Kiffin.

Of course their offense helps out by controlling the ball and keeping the D off the field. Something the Falcons used to be able to do before we started trying to be explosive.

Coming out of training camp, I don't think many would have said they have better personnel than the Falcons do on D.
