Celebrating A First Down With A Gesture Or "the Point"

Hey guys,

I just wanted to know your take on something: Celebrating the first down with a gesture/the referee gesture.

I've seen people do it in big games or big times in games. If the player's pumped up I get it. It's not a big deal.

But what I'm seeing is it's becoming more and more commonplace. Like after almost every first down commonplace.

Is it getting a little excessive?

I won't change anything, and am under no delusion that I will. But perhaps this is more of a reflection of our nation's culture (me-first/entitlement) than an evolution in the game.

Just an observation and thought.

It actually pizzes me off most of the time. Especially when a team is down by 30 with 3 minutes to play and a guy catches a 5 yard slant, gets up all hype, and starts acting like they just won the super bowl BC they got the first down. What are u celebrating dude? Go huddle up, cmon man!!
