Do We Have Too Much Talent For Koetter To Use?

Recommended Posts

After watching a lot of games this weekend and last nights Phi vs Ind in particular we have a HORRIBLE passing tree. We run a lot of hooks, outs and some(not enough) crossing routes. I know protection is KEY but we don't run enough Seam and deep post routes or all go's with Julio,White,Hester and Douglas up the seams. There is NO way we shouldn't have an offense similar to the Broncos and the plays they run. We have better talent than them on offense.

No. He's just an incompetent play caller. The difference between the no huddle and when he's calling the shots is like night and day.

Was he incompetent week 1? The difference is Matt Ryan home vs away. Matt Ryan shines in home games but put him outdoors vs a defense that can bump our Wrs and throw them off routes and Ryan struggles and looks like deer in headlights.

His route tree and play book is pretty good. It's his fear of Run plays that really hurts this offense.

This.

If the defense doesn't have much more to expect than Ryan passing then they are going to commit most of their efforts to stopping him and his receivers from successfully beating them passing. That's how you get a situation like this past Sunday and like in the SB where Denver gets manhandled by a Seattle defense that refused to let Peyton Manning and co. pick them apart by passing.

They ran the no huddle most of the game against the Saints. They ran through the huddle most of the game against the Bengals until the game was out of hand and they scored a TD after that. No. Koetter is ******* incompetent.

Too much talent??? I am pretty sure there is no such thing as too much talent. Every team wishes it had too much talent. And if you do have too much talent but yet still fail to utilize it. It just means you suck and aren't up to the job. Like giving a 80 year old women the keys to a lambo and saying to her to race in the indy 500. Ain't gonna ******* happen

Do you have any stats to back up your point of the plays called in no huddle vs Saints to Cincy game.

it's called pass protection. without it, hooks, crosses and outs are all you have time for. the problem isn't too many weapons, the problem is not enough time to pass protect.

look at week 1.

Screens, draws and cutbacks. You have to be smart enough to set you defense up. Don't just run on first down just to be running...have a plan. The whole NFL knows that the Falcons run on first, pass on second, dink and dunk on 3rd and punt to open the game. If a first down is achieved, then we see it again with a slight/mild wrinkle, with on goal in mind....get in field goal range. Its probably not the way....but it sure feels like over the years.

Agreed, SO, why not go to no huddle, run some screens etc , in other words COUNTER ATTACK and buy Ryan some time, make them pay by using their aggressivness against them. You have to try to get them off balance, but no , we just continue to call the same garbage plays in a garbage game plan and NEVER adjust. Screw Koetter...the guy is clueless and the more good pieces you give him the worse this passive , vanilla, transparent offense gets. He needs to go before every window we have is closing or closed. We are going to be left with Jake Matthews and Julio soon and thats it and we will have nothing to show for it.

In fact the whole works need to be sent packing , from TD down.

But this only work if you can get to the Qb with 4 to 5 guys, the Falcons can't get to the QB with 11

we need to run the ball...as a team wwe are averaging 5 yards per carry!!! why not run the ball more and then you run play action and get the ball deep....our Oline won't ever give us time to just drop back and throw deep...I don't think its all that hard to figure out...we have 4 RBs that do pretty well, why not use them to make our passing attack more potent?

If you notice the pass routes Sunday looked a lot like last year. That's because the pass protection looked a lot like last year. This is different from week 1 where we went more vertical. But Holmes was getting Killed all day Sunday.

Still the one thing we never tried with all their blitzing was a simple middle screen. I was screaming for it. They were blitzing from the edges. The middle was wide open. Just dump it to Quizz or Smith or Freeman right over the pass rushers head. You do that 2 or 3 times and it WILL slow down the pass rush.

I think they should run more out of the 4 wr set with Ryan not under center. Running out of this formation will slow down the pass rush and then Ryan would have a little more time to try deeper throws.
