That would make sense, thought it was odd when I saw CBS was broadcasting.

Yeah, NFL's purpose of Thursday night games was to get their network entrenched in cable/satellite packages. Now that it is, they're going to sell the rights to those games and make more money. Smart business decision. CBS only bought the first 6-8 weeks though of Thursday night games, which maybe means they could keep one that would've gone to Fox each week during that time. Who knows. :)

The "cross flex" mechanism will serve a similar purpose. Select games can be flexed between CBS and FOX. In the past, a game with two NFC teams had to be on FOX and a game with two AFC teams had to be on CBS. Now, the league can theoretically move an all-NFC game to CBS or an all-AFC game to FOX in select cases. This will help balance out the television schedule, especially in a week where one network has all the most intriguing games.

Wow, if you're Fox 5 in Atlanta or Fox 24 in Macon, you gotta feel screwed. Not only did you lose the Falcons - Bengals game to CBS this Sunday, you also lose to CBS the Falcons - Bucs next Thursday that you'd normally have.
