Dirtybird56
I'd say our receivers and depth are better now. Julio bout to take off and added Hester. Ryan with more trust in HD too
toadfishtom
This year might look better on paper but until you play some real games.....you don't know sheet
WOR
This just shows me that TD can't draft LBs to save his life lol. Our LB depth has always been ****
Dirtybird#11
Uh let's compare it too the 98',2013,and 66' rosters too!

And Shembo seems like decent depth at this point. Pretty good to find 3 serviceable LB'ers in two years, especially without spending any high picks on them. Miller2Rison
lol the 1998 roster proved that if one player goes down, i.e. Jamal Anderson in 1999, that we suck again.

I dont think it's a coincidence that our defensive draft picks have vastly improved since Nolan has been around. But thats just water under the bridge. Who cares how talent gets here as long as it does

RandomFan
This is a little more visually accessible for me. O and D The first thing to point out is the obvious - the high amount of roster turnover in just 2 seasons. Including the 3 specialists, we have only retained 20 of the 53 man roster we had that went 13-3 in 2012. 10 on offense, 7 on defense, and 3 specialists.I think it's clear we are more talented offensively, even with the huge loss of Gonzalez. Although this does depend somewhat on the expected improvement and development of our young O Linemen. Matthews is the most gifted O Lineman we've had here in decades; but of course he will take some rookie lumps along the way. Matt Ryan is 2 years more experienced and still in his prime years. Julio is also in his prime as opposed to being a 2nd year player in 2012. Roddy is 2 years older, true, but he's still a quality weapon as proven by the last 4 games of 2013. Douglas now has the confidence of Ryan after 2013. And Hester is a much better 4th option than we had in 2012. SJax is at least as good as the 2012 version of Turner, and probably much better; while Freeman is probably an upgrade to Snelling. Gonzo is the biggest loss in a lot of areas, but we have enough weapons to overcome that. And while Toilolo will never the the athlete or the threat Gonzo was, I think he will surprise a few people this year with some clutch catches. In addition to his blocking being light-years better.Defensively the first thing that jumps out to me is how much bigger, deeper, and more talented we are in the "over 270lbs" front 7 category. It all starts up front, and in saying that life will be much better for the LBs and DBs. There is some missing talent from Abe and Spoon, but I think the overall LBer depth and talent is improved from 2012. Worrilow and Bartu having a year of experience will be a much bigger deal than most people are admitting. The same thing with Trufant and Alford. The starting talent and backup depth at CB is better than we may have had here- and drastically better than in 2012. And the depth at safety looks improved from 2012 as well. The big question at safety is the health of Lowery, and that is also a big gauge to how good our defense can become this year. insight
You sure are making allot of assumptions assuming rookies and free agents will be able to preform in the regular season. The majority of the 2012 team consisted of players who were already on the roster and proved they were a playoff caliber team. The NFC talent overall has improved so it really boils down to are you better than the opponents your facing.
