Joe Hawley

Recommended Posts

Joe Hawley remains the favorite for the Falcons' starting center job.

Hawley is competing with Peter Konz, but is fully expected to be the Week 1 starter. He was given a two-year extension in March and is set to make $2 million in base salary this season. Hawley finished as a top-20 run blocking center by Pro Football Focus last year, but struggled in pass protection.

I've hoped Konz would ball out and win the starting job but clearly Hawley is the better option right now. He's a middle of the road center but with a good OG next to him now he'll look much better than last year, and he didn't look horrible last year either.

Who knows, maybe he will, stranger things have happened ....would be a REAL wildcard if Johnson upped and blew them both away LOL .....laugh.png

Hawley is not the starter yet . Don't count your chickens before that hatch . And looking at Konz and Hawley , who really cares who wins . Center will be our Achilles Heal all year long. Just hope Matt gets use to taking 2 xtra steps back this year on passing downs. Gonna be a lot of push up the middle this year. Gotta draft a quality center early next year , TD .

Considering who he was flanked by i'd say he flourished in pass protection. He had to deal with two or three rushers per play because we may as well have had our cheerleaders lined up on the right side of the line.

Cap, you sure your not his agent ??

laugh.png Nah, I'd have asked that question about any player. He didn't allow a ton of pressures either. Most of the time it was RG that appeared to be at fault, just saying.

BTW, what happened taylorball? It's like his account vanished and went **POOF**
