Jairus Byrd Has Back Surgery

New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd was a notable absence from the third day of organized team activities.

Byrd, who had back surgery Thursday, and was not at practice, the first all-team session open to the media this offseason. Saints coach Sean Payton said he expected him to be back by training camp.

NFL.com reported it was a minor disc surgery. so its likely a mild bulge or a misalignment that can be adjusted or alleviated without open-back surgery.

in the short term its no big deal, and may not be a big deal for a long time. but theres always that possibility it could become an issue sooner. I'll just not worry about it until it does become something worth worrying about.

I hope he plays us 100% week 1. I want the Saints to fail as much as any Falcons fan but I don't get off on beating teams without their best players on the field (unlike some around here...)

Its a recent issue according to the team. Last few weeks.

then in that case he probably did as soon as possible. Hate it for him.
