Southward Was Rated Above Ward At Senior Bowl

DEZMAN SOUTHWARD of Wisconsin is athletic enough that the coaches are giving him some reps on the Corner. And he is holding his own out there. But he really shines back at S. He moves around to help cover the slot and finds the ball readily in pursuit to help. He’s going to be a work in progress, but should make a very nice early Saturday Draft Pick.

Dezmen Southward from Wisconsin played pretty well today as well, and had an interception during practice.

D-Led said he was considered second best safety on team behind Bucannon. He said Falcons showed no interest in him b4 the draft but called him 15 min b4 the pick. So they must've seen something in him.

Where did he say this? I'd like to see the context. Do you have a link or remember where it's from?

#notsold .. lack of production in college

Reminds me of DeCoud coming out. Very good measurables with no production.

I wasn't thrilled with the pick, but Southward is at least a willing tackler. DeCoud never was.

What measurable's was Decoud good at. Clay Matthews wasn't productive in college. In fact he was a walk on that didn't play until his Senior year. Go look up what he did in college and look at him now. Totally different player

Wrong. Clay was coming on strong, and had worked his way up on a college team that was loaded with talent. His dad played for us. And we took Jelly. One of Dimmys first major blunders. About the equivalent of Bobby Cox bringing in Charlie Leibrandt against Kirby puckett, if you ask me.

If Southward is willing and gets after it and proves himself, then okay. But everyone has it down as a reach pick at this point. Ill take the wait and see approach. As for Decoud, I think he might be the next to come out of the closet.

I thought Dimitroff liked to look at a players "Whole body of work in college" instead of one snapshot. If you take Southward's body of work in college then it is underwhelming at best. To me the past is a good predictor of the future.

His stats don't look so bad to me except he doesn't get a lot of INT's. If that's your knock on him tell it to Tru.
