You're talking out of yo *** and acting like a real piece of ****.bit whole house was incredibly emotional. For you to call it an orchestration instead of a historic moment is ******* stupid, especially since Sam had an entire section of our population standing behind him and rooting for him and wanting to see him drafted.

God dammit I hate football fans. Ever the beacon of social acceptance.

I am not. I am actually typing. And u call me a piece of ****? Really? Well that's socially acceptable I guess. One thing first why is it historic? Do we need to celebrate the first outspoken guy who is into bdsm is drafted? What about the first guy with a foot fetish? How about we be serious here and let's keep the football to football and what goes one when the players are naked and behind closed doors right there. I think he has great intangibles and plays well above his measurables. I will be the bigger person here and let ur ignorance and hipocrisy speak for itself while I express my intelligent unbiased opinion in a calm manner.

Is that you Al Sharpton?

No one here owns a slave, or even a cotton field. You act like you just left the field all hot and sweaty after getting beat. I laugh at black people who bring up slavery. You your parents, your grandparents, or your great grandparents were never slaves. Give it a rest and quit blaming "whitey " for every problem. There are black people in the U.S. who are astounding citizens and have done alot to help society. My favorite astro physicist is black btw.

lol why do white ppl get all upset when someone mentions that slavery existed...

When did I say I had any problems for me to blame anyone for? When did I say I was black?

You're clearly a bigot, thats plain to see

The thing that annoys me about ESPN is that they seem to get more excited about a social issues story than they do sports.

They've been like that ever since Disney bought them. Just tune in for games, then I go to NFL network or MLB network for the analysis, even Fox Sports 1 (I personally love their handicapping bit).

I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN went on a mission to change the Redskins name.

They've been on that since last year, but I think it failed so they had to regroup. I'm sure it will be back for more as we get closer to the season.

Being gay is not a fad. but being force fed everything gay over and over is a fad.

"Force fed everything gay"? He's the first openly gay person to be drafted by the NFL. That's historical. Why are you against celebrating such a milestone, especially considering that it was just 11 years ago that gay people could be thrown in jail for simply being gay.

This was more than about football. Why is ESPN showing dudes kissing at an NFL draft event. Come on man. Really., Someone said we should talk to our kids about this.

Here is my talk. Son there are people in this world that have turned there backs to God. God has punished them and allows them to due the most evil things. Woman are now with woman and men are now with men. God calls this an abomination. So lets pray for those people that they will find truth and turn from such things. None of us are prefect son, and all sin is bad. What the sin of homosexuality is doing is showing the real life example of a Godless life. So son come kneel with me and lets pray for those lost brothers and sisters so that they may find peace in God.

ESPN is going to learn that if they keep cramming that stuff down our necks, people are going to change the channel. I just couldn't watch it over and over and over. There are plenty of people who are extremely tolerant of homosexuality, accept it, don't mind it at all, but have NO desire to see that.

I don't think gay people are going to ****. I don't believe God punishes people for things they can't control. I believe there are several types of gay people. 1. People who are actually born gay. 2. People who are looking for acceptance and find it in the gay community. 3. People who are just crazy about any kind of sexual stimulation.

I also believe nature does not intend for people to be gay. If they did, 2 gay people could reproduce.

I'm not a homo basher. I'm not a homophob, I don't believe they are going to ****. I will work with them, joke around with them, do business with them, etc. However, it's extremely unlikely that I'm going to develop some sort of long lasting and deep friendship with a gay man. Probably not going to find a gay man that I'm going to call up to go have beers with. Probably not going to ask a gay couple to go vaca with me and my girl. Probably not going to convince me to go to a gay bar and get piss drunk.

There are many people who feel like I do. There are also many people that cry out how important it is to accept gay people, yet don't do any of the things I mentioned above.

I didn't have any problem with "the kiss" until this morning.

This morning, I turned on the radio to try to see what the local stations were saying about the Falcons' draft picks. And all anyone is talking about is that stupid kiss. Really folks? Really? Hey, we got a franchise tackle, a stud pass rushing monster for the interior of our d-line, a safety prospect that is controversial, a really solid RB, CB depth and several OLB prospects, and all we can talk about on LOCAL sports talk radio is a Rams 7th rounder kissing his boyfriend on national TV? Is that really the story today?

It's about ratings. The joke of it all is that Sam is being used by the media for ratings, and he's using the media to get his story out. The latter bothers me far less than the former. If he ends up getting cut, no one will care, and we'll move on to the next convenient controversial figure. He'll end up a footnote. If he ends up making the team, no one will care about his play on the field. For all the talk of moving past our prejudices, what we're really doing is spotlighting them so radio and television stations can get advertising dollars. It's a pretty sad statement about our society, honestly.

I agree that the media are over-doing it for ratings. My comments in this thread were largely in response to the "oh it's borderline pornography" and "we don't need to see those people do that in public" stuff.

There's a real danger of over-saturation of Sam's celebration by the media and I agree that the coverage is way out of proportion. The best thing is to show the celebration, note the historical nature of it, and move on to the sports coverage (at least for the sports shows).
