Late Round Qbs

Recommended Posts

Bears GM Phil Emery revealed he recently did a "study" that showed late-round quarterback draft picks aren't worth the trouble.

Some people seem to believe late-round QBs can be "developed," but it doesn't happen. "That developmental theory doesn't hold a whole lot of water," Emery said. "So who has gotten developed? There isn't a single quarterback after the third round since 2006 that has been a long-term starter. ... And most of them (third-round QBs) have been wiped out of the league." Emery's analysis doesn't bode well for the likes of Keith Wenning (Ball State) and Brett Smith (Wyoming).

There is always an exception to the rule. That's like the people who claim that you can find great RBs anywhere, b/c Alfred Morris was picked late.

To be fair, there are a lot of great RB's that went late/weren't drafted at all, much more so than late round QB's.
