Bring It
And that's what scares me, that we may be the suckers to give them what they want. You can relax.TD now has an ample number of experienced, level headed NFL football guys at his side.I trust he will ONLY trade up IF at a bargain price.Possible ??Who knows ?7 days.............stay tuned. paulitik
I think it's trade back, and settle for Bortles, or take Manziel at 1, and suffer for the next 5 years from his antics.

THE ICEMAN
An issue that's going to affect many teams is how the Texans go about getting their new QB. If I were the Texans I'd take Clowney or Mack and get a QB later or trade down. In todays NFL you can never have enough pass rushers and I'd take one.Think about it, if you were an NFL GM would you risk a QB investment on a Johnny Manziel type QB ? Heck No, taking a QB is always risky but drafting a running 6'0" QB is just maximizing your risk, Johnny Manziel is like a white Mike Vick, just a littl more accurate, I'd stay far away and I'm sure they will, maybe trading down, but not for Manziel. I could see them trading down for Bridgewater or Bortles, but I'd feel like I really wasted my #1 overall pick opportunity if I were to choose Bortles straight up at #1.Thank God the Falcons are not in the Texans spot, could you imagine the intellectual giants here talking about getting a QB....scary.I saw on NFL Draftcountdown that the Texans mock is for Bortles.....wouldn't you feel cheated as a fan if Hes #1 overall ? A fan of the Texans that is.I would. The scary thing for me is the number of teams who may be tempting Dimitroff to move up....It scares the bejezus out of me......I just hope the Texans can go about their business and leave the Falcons out of it.....best case scenario......just draft Clowney.Manziel is way ahead of Vick as a passer Vick was more so like Can Newton were he could go threw his reads and would take off running far to soon Manziel will stand in the pocket and make plays the guy has had the two most prolific seasons ever for a College QB.But like you said I also wouldn't gamble on him.I'd just trade for Ryan Mallett
Tribal Chief
They want to trade down. They want our pick. Because they can get one of the three top QBs there without paying the number one overall price. That's what's so ****** up about the whole situation. They desperately want to trade down, per reports, yet wanna charge an arm and 3 Damm legs. But that's how the business goes

But that's how the business goesCan't blame them for asking that2nd overall pick went for 3 1st and a 2nd a few years ago and when people are calling Clowney the next Bruce Smith or Laurence Taylor there going to ask at ton for the pick. But it is a really risky game the Texans are playing because say they go ahead and take Clowney but would rather not because they really don't need to improve there defense and are banking on neither of the top two tackles being there at 6 so Atlanta then may want to make the move and give more. But say Jake Matthews falls to 6 Atlanta very well could just say no thanks we didn't think he'd be here at 6 and were going to take Matthews.I think Atlanta would probably do it for this years 1st (6th overall) next years number 1 and this years 2nd and even then that's a kings ransom in my opinion when there all high round picks. Anything more than that and its way to much teams are valuing picks much more giving what you have to pay a franchise QB but Houston wouldn't know anything about that. Sheldon Cooper
I get the feeling that Dimwitroff is known as a bit of a rube when it comes to players he targets. I think other teams identify his true intentions through talks and sucker him into trading up when he really does not have to. I believe the Texans could strike a deal with him if we had the 2nd pick in the draft. It is obvious they do not want Clowney. They would be talking contract with his people by now. Sheldon Cooper
I get the felling we are bidding against ourselves. I would offer them my 1st, 3rd, and 4th, for their 1st 4th and 5th. SportsRadio 610 has also learned that the player the Falcons are interested in is not Jadeveon Clowney.http://houston.cbslo...y-or-no-1-pick/BOOM goes the dynamite! So many reports are coming out now. I bet soon there will be another report saying that they want Clowney, Mack, Robinson, Matthews, and Lewan soon.It will probably be a report that the Falcons really want to trade down.I'm done with considering any truth to all the rumors. Can't wait until the 8th so we can all know the truth.

Clowney interviewed in Atlanta. Clowney interviewed in Columbia. Mack interviewed, Robinson flies in, Matthews conference call.......And then....May 8th arrives....And we trade down for Donald or Martin or someone everyone considers "B-Level". That would be awesome. Mind blown. Edited May 1, 2014 by billywhiteshoes

GEORGIAfan
According to the ticker on NFLN, the Texans GM KNOWS who he wants with the #1 pickJust thought I'd share. Could be a another smokescreen, but didn't see it posted eitherI do not think it is a smokescreen in the traditional sense. I do believe he is telling the truth and that they do know who they want, if they do pick number 1, BUT the fact that he is not sharing who it is could be a smokescreen. It is like when someone says "I know your secret". Your heart sinks. you feel a pit in the bottom of your stomach. I think that is what their GM is trying to do. Get people worried that the Texans "guy" is their guy, so they spend a little more. If he said I know who I want and it is Bortles, then everybody not targeting Bortles is not going to worry, since their guy makes it one spot closer to them and is one spot cheaper, which is especially huge in the early first round. If it was known bottles was their guy TD would not sweat if a deal was not done. He would be like "On to the next one" and work with Les Snead.
