Many armchair Qb's on this board talk about Freakish Athleticism. Well what about the history of taking them?

Take a look at the most coveted prospects in recent years:

Defensive line shuffle. (Essentially the Shaun Phillips addition forces Derrick Morgan and Ropati Pitoitua to rotate)

Guess who's at the top of this years list?

There are more than enough successful freakish athletes in the NFL to suggest that being freakishly athletic doesn't mean you will be a bust.

On the one had I wonder how so many Falcons fans could want to draft a guy that doesn't have a strong work ethic. We already watched one freak athlete spoil his gifts in this city. Why would we want to draft the DE version?

At the same time why spend time trying to prove we shouldn't draft the guy? If we do draft him, you’ll cheer for him just the same as you would any other player we draft. I don’t want Clowney at 6, but if we draft him it’s not the end of the world. Hopefully, I’m wrong and getting paid will cause him to work harder and play every down. Or maybe he is so athletic that he doesn’t have to and I get to watch Drew Brees wince 3 times a game this year.

Who knows how his career will go.

You should include MSNBC in there.

So now list all the superstar freak athletes that were picked.

Seriously what was the point of posting this if you were only going to list the busts? Were you auditioning for a job with FOX News as their official stat skewer?

The draft is a beauty contest,we tend to get obsessive about our favorite players and build arguments and research statistics that proves our favorite players are the best possible choice ,and this is fun and everyone has a good time and we criticize each other ,because what else is there to do until the season starts?.....looking forward to the draft

All of the guys you named were freakish athletes who folks hoped could develop into football players. Save for Morgan, I don't think anyone expected any of them to be much---- there was simply hope based on athleticism. Clowney has produced on the field....in spades

You would seem more sure if your font was bigger lol, seriously though I agree 100% if he some how falls to 6 you got to take him, and hope he works his butt off to get that second contract. Is he the next Richard Dent or Reggie White? probably not, but theres a **** good chance he's good enough to give the Birds DE play that rivals Abe's last 3 or 4 years here.
