they didn't interview him at the combine or go to his pro day. Cant invest a top 5 pick in a player you don't know

Are they quietly doing the complete background check you need to do with a high draft pick? Are they talking to his coaches, the high school coach, neighbors, friends? Could be doing lots of work on Manziel that doesn't get reported.

I can see why people might think Manziel is immature. What I can't understand is how people can miss the fact that this dude is very serious about football and winning. That is where the Leaf and Russell comparisons are lost on me.

I'd be really worried that a team with a bad Oline drafts him and he gets Harringtoned before he really learns his craft.

Wilson is a good QB, but if he'd been drafted by JAX, he's not holding up the crystal trophy last year.

I dont think you can over analyze, TBH.

Look, maybe he just had a bad game. You never draw conclusions on a player from any one or two games. But the issues I see across the 4-6 games I've watched were on full display against LSU. Typically, I see a handful of decisions in any Manziel game that makes me shake my head. But they always seem to come in the same situation....a situation that he's going to see a ton more in the NFL...pressure. His response to pressure, regardless of where it comes from or how real it is, is to drop his eyes, focus on the defender(s) and try to run away. Sometimes he gets free and delivers a **** of a ball. But often, he hesitates, attempts to run away and, if he doesnt find a running lane, throws the ball up for grabs. Not always into a pack but always just lays it out there.

I see the talent...but I see the downside.

Yessir..................just pray he gets picked in the Top 5.

The rest of all the Hoop-La is just background noise.

Yes I watched it but I stand by my comment. It's one of many that only show the good things he does. To say that this is what he's about with out showing the bad to compare the good against is pointless to me. If I wasn't on my phone I'd show you a video of Merrill Hodge breaking down a few bad plays by Manziel. I'm no QB expert but even I was thinking what is this guy seeing to make that decision?

I could do the same with Matt Ryan, and he's been in the league for 6 years.

100%. Absolutely. Any player has bad moments.

Greg Cosell talks a lot about looking for transitional skills. Skills that will project well to the NFL. I think Manziel has a good number of these. I just think a large part of his game relies on two or three features of his game that don't translate well at all.

And I mean, at the end of the day, its really just an educated guess, right?

Houston or Cleveland would be the best situation for him.

Oakland and Jacksonville on the other hand...

Agreed. And its about time. I was getting a bit worried. Hopefully Carr has a solid pro day.

H.ell, Gruden said after he worked with him that CARR is deserving of the No.1 pick. Absolutely loves the kid. Arm, size, accuracy, velocity, savy..........Gruden is convinced the "Experts" are really overlooking Carr...........big time.

I trust Chucky when it comes to QB evaluation.

Teams aren't high on Carr because a full 1/3 of his throws were thrown behind the line of scrimmage, and when he had to throw the ball more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, he was far less accurate than any of the top 3 guys.

In short. The guy shows an accuracy problem throwing the ball down the field.
