W T F Is The Hold Up With S Clemons

Clemons was a top 20 safety last year. And that was with a -3.6 grade in the run game. Dude is a coverage safety, but he has poor ballhawk skills.

He is decent in coverage. We don't have any other FS on the roster we can say that about confidently. Bring him in and let him and the rookie we will undoubtedly draft compete.

He doesn't have gaudy stats but he has almost 200 tackles over the last 2 seasons, as opposed to Decoud who was scared to tackle anyone.

He also ran something like a 4.38 with a number of other good test results.

He's experienced, can tackle, and has great range.

That's exactly what we need.

We can't break the bank with every signing, especially with busts like Baker eating up the cap.

We don't want a rookie back there learning the ropes being targeted and gameplanned against.

If we do draft a good rookie safety that means an early pick that isn't spent on a pass rusher or OL, which are both more badly needed.

Jared Allen could've helped one of those needs, but it looks like he's going to Seattle, just like last offseason when we had no pass rush and passed on the likes of Cliff Avril and others who they scooped.

I see a RT who can move over to LT when Baker gets hurt as a bigger need, as well as AT LEAST 1 talented impact pass rusher, and a C. This was the worst OL in the league and hasn't gotten much better, and the pass rush was pretty much just as bad.

Clemons should be cheap given no one is beating down his door, and would allow us to wait until the later rounds to go safety.

To have great range you have to have good ball instincts. Being fast enough to have great range doesnt mean you have great range

Moore can play FS. We need a vet SS/FS because we have 2 second year players who are going to make mistakes.W e need a Vet back there!

Moore would be as bad if not worse at FS than decoud because he'll have to cover way more and he's not that great in Man coverage when he can roam as a SS hes good but as a man to man coverage guy he is well below average he just doesn't have the speed to cover a jimmy graham or a slot if he gets matched up on them.

I wouldn't say that a rookie would be all that bad if he's good look at the kid Sanfran got last year he was pretty good and a late 1st rounder so we could easily move up and grab someone if he's worth it like the Pryor kid.
