Donald Or Barr? If Mack And Clowny Are Gone.

Recommended Posts

Matthews over either, and to me it's not even close. I don't like Barr at all. From what I've seen on film of him he does little to nothing against the run. With Donald, he looks fantastic but I just can't get over his size. If he doesn't beat an nfl lineman off the snap he'll be a huge liability.

I am getting concerned that our targeted defensive players will be gone at 6.

Matthews is an option but I just don't think we will draft a RT at 6 this year.

If you have game rewind go back and rewatch a couple of games and just focus on Holmes.

Specifically go back and watch the Skins and Bills game.

Believe me now when I tell you now you've forgotten how bad it was. I did.

Mack or Clowney gone, you pick Jake Mathews assuming Robinson is gone. It's that simple, Jake can come right in and protect Matt for the next 15 years. No more Is Baker gonna be healthy, is Baker going to play physical, does Baker have the fire?

We will hold on to Baker for one more year, open up competition on the right tackle position between Holmes, Baker, and Mike Johnson. May the best man win. If Baker wins the gig his contract gets renegotiated for a RT's salary at the end of the 2014 season or bye bye, if he losses the starting job at RT he becomes an expensive backup till the end of the season and then bye bye. Either way, his contract gets reduced or he gets cut with a lesser penalty and LT and RT should not be a problem in the foreseeable future. Before you say "we already pay him too much money to sit on the bench", Yes but we are not a cap strapped team and if Mathews is clearly a better LT and he is the ONLY one standing left in the draft you pick him and finally give Ryan the 3 seconds he hasn't seen in a LOOOOOONG time

I have a feeling we are targeting Robinson. We have to solidify this oline. For years to come.

if looking solely at those 2, I would take Barr due to scheme fit.

I am sure there will better options, unless maybe no QBs go in the top 5.

Matthews is the guy I really am hoping for though. I think he goes before us though. I could see STL just taking him at 2 since there are concerns about Longs injury. They can just move Long to RT if needed, and Saffold is expected to stay at OG for them to replace Dahl.

I really don't understand the love with Matthews. Any T&M game I saw, he was getting pushed around pretty regularly & Manziel was scrambling for his life. I think these Matthew folks are in love with his lineage & for some reason people think that makes him a better player.

Barr,Donald, Tuitt or Hageman over Matthews.

sorry cant agree. I think it may have been as much of Matthews having to move to try and adjust to Manziel since he is a one look and run QB.

At his pro day rumor has it scouts were blown away by him. A far as bloodlines, it doesnt guarantee his physical ability, but it helps that he understands the committment and rigor of being an NFL professional, no doubt.

You dont have to like him, because it is not going to affect where he gets drafted. I would be willing to bet the house he goes in the top 6 of the draft. I am hearing some feel he could be the best LT since Clady in 08 and Thomas in 07. Speaking of Thomas, people said the same thing about him, that he was overrated because he was average in all his workout numbers. I remember many feeling he would fall to us at 8. He went #3, before AP. People critisize whatever isnt 'fresh' in prospects.

matthews would not be a rt he would be a lt in waiting because after next year i believe bakers contract is dumpable with the cap going up.

He would be a LT by week 5 when Baker is on the bench nursing an injury again, only to go on IR by week 10 or so.

my updated draft board, based on scheme changes:

1. Matthews

2. Robinson

3. Mack

4. trade down for Nix, Tuitt, Barr, Lewan, Ebron, Pryor, Dix, Mosley, Gilbert, Denard...many options.(should be able to get a nice haul for Clowney if he slips, and it prevents him from going to Tampa.)

He would eventually replace Baker at LT, but short term he would need to play RT. Baker is not an option at RT.

But in the "unlikely" event Baker is injured again and misses a couple of games or most of the season would you feel better if the options were Robinson/Matthews and Holmes or just Holmes to fill in?

Also, I've read in several places that Matthews has the ability to play several positions on the oline. His father played every position on the oline and made the pro-bowl at 2 of them.

So in the unlikely event Baker and Holmes develop moving Matthews inside to replace Blaylock could be an option down the road.

I think every top ten player has a game or two where they stunk it up. Even Clowney had games where his a$$ was handed to him. I'm not saying Mathews is our number one guy but when Robinson stole the show at the combine Mathews answered back at pro day, and I like that kind of responsiveness. Either way we CAN"T lose (Mack, Clowney, Mathews, Robinson) any of these 4 and the line gets improved either way.

that is what i said. he would not be drafted at 6 as a rt, he would be a lt in waiting, for baker to be dumped. he would play the right in the mean time.
