JayOzOne
We need a mean streak. We need 53 Harvey Dahls out there pushing players around until just after the whistle blows. The last time we had that, in my opinion, was in 1998. Everybody, even Chandler played balls out for 60 minutes. We were close in 2008 when Dahl and Clabo put the world on notice that we weren't taking **** from the other team.I worry that even with the new additions, the established "leaders" of the Falcons may not mesh. I would love to see Smitty and co. adopt the attitude that we're going to bust the other team in the mouth in the first quarter and if they chip away at our lead, somebody on the field is going to be held accountable. Start out strong, finish strong. Show no quarter. Show no respect.I love the emphasis on the OL and DL in free agency and hope it continues in the draft. Just for once, I'd love to be the bully instead of the finesse team. I'm cool with Matt Ryan leading us back on the last drive. I'd be even better with him sitting the bench with an insurmountable lead for the fourth quarter.
Farmer2
I think there is a very fine line with the emphasis Smitty puts on penalties. Obviously there is a big advantage being one of the least penalized teams in the league, but when your QB is being cheap shot after the whistle somebody needs to make someone pay. I'm worried we've taken the emphasis on penalties to the point of being soft.

papachaz
LOL you call for 53 Harvey Dahl's, but reference a team that was a decade earlier than when he played here, confused much?
bt12483
There is a difference between acting tough and being tough.Teams that really are tough see through teams that only act tough. We will see which kind of tough the falcons turn into. Personally, I think it takes more than a few free agents to change a soft finesse dome team into a team of tough guys.

Family broken up, brother here, sister there. got to fight! Finally taken to the suburbs but allowed to go back to the inner city where the tough thugs teased him about being a rich boy because the couple that adopted him lived in a large house so he had to kick azz. russ7000
I saw Suh push t-rex Sam Baker to the ground like a muppet and Sam did nothing..... I saw where the defense deliberately hit Matt Ryan illegally and NO ONE fought back.... We lack in that area
JayOzOne
LOL you call for 53 Harvey Dahl's, but reference a team that was a decade earlier than when he played here, confused much?Sorry, son. I know full well when he got here. But what I meant was Harvey (and Clabo) played with a chip on their shoulder, but not the entire 2008 team. I like their attitude, which affected the entire team but we still had a handful of soft players. That's why I referred to "2008 when Dahl and Clabo put the world on notice". Everybody in 1998 played with their balls out. I'm sorry if I confused you on that one, though.
OldFalcons
I think we just got a few mean FA's......but we need more Justin Smith type of players if you ask me.
SaintsBountyBowlChamps
Yeah being "mean" really worked out for Dahl and Clabo. Where are they now? Oh that's right.
Steampunk
Yeah but it was nice being called "dirty" "cheapshot artists" " play after the whistle" at least they knew we were coming to town and they didn't like playing against our lines at all. Lately we have been a laughing stock and all our lines have been good for is padding the opposing players stats. Hopefully this move back to nasty gets us some respect again.....
