Chris Johnson Reportedly Will Take A Pay Cut For Trade

Recommended Posts

Chris Johnson said back in December that he would never accept a pay cut from the Tennessee Titans. But he might be willing to take a pay cut to leave the Titans.

Johnson reportedly is now willing to take a pay cut to help facilitate a trade, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. Johnson is due $8 million next year, but there's no way he's getting that money. (Or close to it.)

The reality of Johnson's situation probably is starting to hit the seven-year veteran. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean writes there is "some" interest around the league, but the expectation remains that Johnson eventually will be released.

Running backs are having a hard time finding money in this free-agent market. We'd expect Johnson's salary to be cut in half, at least. He's unlikely to get 300 carries again anytime soon as well.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" recaps the wild start of free agency.

why? SJ played behind the worst line in the league last year. I bet he will still be **** effective with a decent line infront of him

I'm not a Chris Johnson fan, but we could use an upgrade from Jackson. He was behind a bad o-line, but he's at that age where it's pretty much over. He didn't show much fight last year and he had a lot of key drops

I agree, but I think we'll look to find a RB we can groom in the draft... especially after Snellimg retired.

Give me Sims, Seastrunk, McKinnon, Johnson, Crowell... plenty of talented backs available in the 4th round or later.

No more declining vets, please!

and he'll never do that again. He's arguably the most overrated RB in the NFL. That contract that the Titans gave him was a joke, and they've suffered for it, ever since.

tell me how many RBs has rushed for over 2000 yards multiple years in the NFL? He doesn't need to do that again to be effective for a team
