I will start taking you seriously when you cite game tape and not the combine. The combine is nothing more than a confirmation tool for the athleticism you see on tape, not a measure of how good the player is or will be.

Maybin:

2007 - 4.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks

2008 - 20.0, 12.0

Barr:

2012 - 21.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks

2013 - 20.0, 10.0

Again, 2 different athletes.

Technique can be taught especially with Bryan Cox on staff I would be happy with either both excelled in college in the one area we need the most help in pass rush. If you believe that Cox is gonna be able to coach the other youngins up you gotta believe he can coach Barr up as well who is a better athlete than anybody else we could put at the position on the roster. But I get it everybody had their favorites and there's just no convincing people otherwise. I remember how badly I was ridiculed for wanting to draft JPP. He faced alot of the same criticism Barr does .....I'm just saying

watch the film, you will see Barr making impact plays. Mack does too, but not as many. they both struggle against the run at times, but thats why we just got Soliai and Jackson to go with Babs. we have run stoppers, now we need the speed. that is barr. Edited by Mike Kenn

Yup. It basically comes down to.....

Do you want Ahmad Brooks or a potential Demarcus Ware; Joey Porter?

Barr: 6.82 3 cone

Maybin: 7.58 3 cone

Completely different players. Barr has much greater explosiveness and flexibility, Maybin was a stiff, straight line athlete. Try again...

Yeah the combine proves how good you will be as a pro. Just watch the Stanford game. AB made one good play, a play which he was unblocked I would add. The TE kicked him out with ease on most occasions. AB cannot get off a block from the Stanford TE, what's he going to do when an NFL OT puts his hand on him?

He can't bull rush. I haven't see much of an inside move. His speed might win on occasion, but the average NFL OT can adjust to that.

At best he is a situational pass rusher as a rookie. Could he develop to something more, absolutely. I don't want to take a guy in the 1st round that has that many holes. He disappears for long stretches.

Attaochu from GT and Ford will be better players and Attaochu can be had in the 2nd, that's not an opinion everyone shares, I know. Both have unbelievable motors.

Look Barr does some things very well. He's a hitter, but he also tackles very well. He pursues well from the backside. His length will help him bat down balls. He has a lot of good qualities. He just doesn't warrant a top 10 pick. I wouldn't fault a team for taking him in the middle to late half of round 1. I likened him to Maybin because both have real problems getting off blocks.

No shame in struggling with Stanford's o-line, they pump out NFL lineman year after year. They've replace Wisconsin & Iowa as Lineman-U.

I'm not saying Barr is perfect, and I've said a number of times Mack is more ready. Barr, if developed, which is the responsibility of the organization, will be the better player.

Clowney. I don't want Mack. Because the same ppl that wanted Ray Edwards want Mack, I can't trust their judgement on a pass rusher

Hilarious post, why don't you go look at the tape on Mack and you can see for yourself how much better and more polished of a player Mack is. Mack over Barr easily !

people keep saying that but im not so sure. mack is supposed to be solid and powerful, but for someone with that reputation he needs work shedding big blockers and doesnt tackle as well as he should.

Like Anthony Barr or not - he's in the mix and visiting the ATL.....so you better find some things you like about him. I'm fairly certain if both are available and Falcons want a passrusher - i'm sure they will rank Mack over Barr - but if Mack goes in top 5 - don't be surprised if Falcons grab Barr.

let that wash over you.....it is a possibility.

I didn't compare Barr to Maybin.

Not really. Barr is the better pass rusher.

Nope. As I have said repeatedly, he has no bend around the corner, no pass rush moves, attempts to run around OTs or runs upright at them. As an edge rusher in the NFL that spells disaster, a la Dion Jordon. He is, however, a fantastic athlete who would is good on interior blitzes which would make him best off as a 4-3 OLB. Considering we don't run that formation now what is the point of bringing him in?

The combine is only relevant if it fits your agenda.

And they'd be getting a bust. I have total confidence in that.
