Objective Critic
Overkill on the defensive line.No such thing as overkill on the defensive line. Ever hear of rotating your linemen?Plus with Babs being old, he is going to be needed to be replaced anyway. I think I did a great job. I don't see how anyone could possibly complain about this draft. Edited March 12, 2014 by Objective Critic
CDuB2009
No such thing as overkill on the defensive line. Ever hear of rotating your linemen?Interior 3-4 players already on our roster. Babineaux, Peters, Soliai, Jackson, Goodman, Robertson possibly Osi. Then you add 2 more in the first 2 rounds? It's a bit much. Gotta spread it around a bit more in my opinion. Molson
No such thing as overkill on the defensive line. Ever hear of rotating your linemen?Yes, there is. You've done it. You ignored needs like FS and a real pass rusher (OLB) and gave the team 2 more DTs and a 3-4 DE to sit behind the starters and take limited snaps. Why take some other player at that round when you have high value players falling into the 2nd? Babs is old. Peters is ok at best. You guys act like the team has quality players on the Dline when they don't. Just because you have a lot of players doesnt mean they are all worth keeping. The rest of what the falcons have as far as Dline is concerned is just taking up roster space. Not even worth keeping on the team.
Herr Doktor
Some of the.draft positions may be wishful thinking, but I'm with you. You can never have enough beasts on the line.

There were no FS worth taking that high that were available. I am not TD who overreaches on draft picks simply to fill a "need". Plus you still have free agency.Ok, but who plays FS and who rushes the passer while Hageman and Nix sit on the bench? Why would Hageman and Nix sit on the bench? It's not realistic. BPA at position of need is what really happens. And Hageman and Nix would be a part of a rotation taking back up snaps. A FS is on the field for every play. Not even worth keeping on the team.Peters has been pretty good when healthy. The rest have never been given much of an opportunity, neither have had much if any shot in a 3-4 which is where they'd fit ideally. I'd prefer to roll with what we have at DL for now and get more depth in places we sorely need it. CB we don't have much past McClain, ILB we have Spoon, Worrilow and Dent but if we're starting two we'll want more than that.

You didnt answer my question either. Why would they be backups? You really think Babs is worth starting at 33 years old? Even Soliai and Tyson Jackson are good run stuffers but not much of rushers.I don't get the fans. The team has no push up the middle. The Falcons add a couple of ok Dline in free agency but I add beasts in the draft and you guys are complaining. Not to mention that but a first round WR Lee falling into the 2nd, and I get him to eventually replace Roddy. This draft would be the equivalent of 2 drafts in 1 year.I also got the 2 best RBs in the middle rounds.

It is a surprise the Falcons resigned him, but they only did it for 1 reason. He is the best of the worst. Tell me how many of our DLinemen would start on any other team? Tell me how many of our DLinemen would start on any other team?I'd venture to say 4 now would start on a good amount of teams. Interior linemen aren't supposed to get a bunch of sacks either, so I think you're a little lost there. The two guys we got yesterday eat up blockers and push the interior offensive line back, which helps the players rushing from the outside. Babineaux is vastly underrated, and we benefit from that, one of the better pass rushing DT's in the league (probably top 20) and he's solid against the run. We didn't pay him because he was the "best of the worst"....if that logic were a real thing DeCoud would still be on the team. That quote also ignores the fact that we re-signed Peters also. The fact is this defensive got pushed around with these 2 players Babs and Peters which you think would start for a "good amount of teams". If they were so good why did TD bother signing 2 more Dlinemen?
