birdz4i
to be fair he was coming off ACL surgery, but I'd rather make a run for Peppers if we are going to sign a veteran.and to be fair, he had never done squat until he went to sea. slamee101
and to be fair, he had never done squat until he went to sea.So it makes sense to ignore his more recent body of work when he was healthy and became a starter?
LouDog.
so you'd rather have his 4.5 sacks on a dominant line than Osi's 7.5 on one of the worst lines?dude you know you cant go bringing logic into the conversations on here
A-TowN.-
and to be fair, he had never done squat until he went to sea.Yeah because he never started more than 2 games before that. Ignorance man
GEORGIAfan
He is going to go where all Seattle cast off goes. JACKSONVILLE
PeytonMannings Forehead
I'm surprised Seattle let him go. They spent last off season stocking up on depth for that line. He can still get to the quarterback. I just knew they'd keep him another year coming off that ACL for the depth. Now they got Bennett, Avril, and nothing behind them in the rotation. I guess they're gonna look to put Irvin back in that situational role.Welp... the montra is always, you can never have enough pass rushers. If he'd take a one year "prove it" deal I wouldn't hesitate.
4dabirds
Clemons is nothing special.
birdz4i
So it makes sense to ignore his more recent body of work when he was healthy and became a starter?well lets see 3 teams before it, i would probably say it was the system or the talent around him in sea that maybe allowed him to finally be productive. birdz4i
Yeah because he never started more than 2 games before that. Ignorance manyeah because he never could stick w/ 3 teams be sea. what a contributor.

While Clemons is nothing special, a one year prove it deal might not be a bad idea.
slamee101
well lets see 3 teams before it, i would probably say it was the system or the talent around him in sea that maybe allowed him to finally be productive. You mean the years when he was healthy and he played without Avril & Bennett? They don't have any real blue chippers currently in free agency that they've got to make space for. Bennett was it. That's why I thought they'd give him one more year on that repaired ACL then let him walk and re-sign Avril. They let Schofield go -- who they were coaching up in Clemons's LEO spot last training camp. Clinton McDonald, a good interior rusher, is gone. A lot of d-line depth is walking out the door. Now if they're making a play for Jared Allen, it makes sense. If not, they're letting a gifted pass rusher get out the door... but, hey, those guys know what they're doing up there. I'm just an observer. birdz4i
You mean the years when he was healthy and he played without Avril & Bennett?yeah and the seahawks still had nice size dts to help out with him having success, daryl tapp had success in sea but didnt do squat in philly. so i will stick with a 2 time pro bowler and all pro in osi over him
GEORGIAfan
Clemons is a 3 down LEO for them. Dude was a beast, BUT I think seattle likes the fact that they can now have different packages with Bennett playing LEO on some downs. That was less likely the prior years, because Bryant was a pure 5-tech DE with little pass rush ability.
A-TowN.-
yeah because he never could stick w/ 3 teams be sea. what a contributor. So 33.5 sacks in 3 years isn't contributing? 8 sacks in only 2 starts isn't contributing? Gotcha. Well good luck with your search

I'm just an observer. They lost a lot of depth(McDonald, McDaniel, Bryant, and Clemons), but They could take Aaron Donald to replace McDaniel. Sign Hatcher for DT depth as well and sign Jared Allen. That would cover their losses with superior talent. They still got 4 guys who have been a part of the system since last year( Bennett, Avril, Mebane, and Hill)

Clemons played out of position his first few years in the league. He was a linebacker until he got to Philly.
