freebird310
I need a brighter bulb to explain this to me. Say he files his appeal and wins, the difference between WR and TE is 5 million right ? So if the Saints just signed Byrd and say they are sitting at their cap limit right now, what happens if Graham wins ? I guess they would have to cut somebody(s) ? I think that they've gotta have Graham worked out already in order to make the Byrd deal work. Otherwise, they need to cut players just to sign rookies, let alone Byrd. Structure is important, but you can't "hide" $28m guaranteed to the point of making it fit within $2m cap space.
freebird310
If Graham wins the Saints will be over the cap and may have to let Graham walk (worst case scenario for them). Thank you kind sir ........
Guest F_A_1_C_O_N
nothing sadly. the NFL will give them time to figure it out. now if they do not find out how to free up that money and/or sign a player in that time, then they will lose picks and the Byrd contract would be cut up. shockerfalcon
Technically it's impossible to go over the cap since all contracts have to be approved by the league, however in the event a contract slips by and puts a team over the cap that team will have 7 days To comply with the cap or the contract will be voided. In the past when this has happened teams have lost draft picks and faced fines. It should be noted that the Saints have just agreed to terms with Bryd. He hasn't actually signed a contract yet. I fully expect a long term deal with Graham to be announced with in the next few days and/or some contracts restructured. Jamesgall13
Has Graham filed a grievance? Keep hearing he will but hasn't been so confirmed so maybe he won't.
