Best Case Scenarios Going Forward

Pretty much all the OT's and FS's worth a **** are gone already, so what do you think would be the best case scenarios for the remainder of free agency?

Arguably our 4 top holes right now are, FS, OLB/DE, OT, TE

Sign a veteran pass rusher, like Ware, Peppers, Allen and get OT in the first round and FS in the second?

Take pass rush first and a veteran anyway the go BPA on needs?

Find a stop gap at either position like a Champ Bailey and go pass rush in the first, OT in the second?

Roll with the big committee and a mid round 'gem' for competition at RT and go defense?

whats yours?

I would sign Peppers or Ware to help the pass rush.

Then sign Champ Bailey to provide depth and a veteran presence.

Next I would trade back in the draft. Our biggest flaw last year was lack of depth.

After trading back, I would draft a Safety, either Pryor or Clinton-Dix. I personally prefer Pryor. After that I would draft BPA to solidify our depth.

Then be excited as ever about our upcoming season.

I would love to get a FS like Clemons as a stop gap, or maybe see what Bailey would take and how he would adjust to safety. I would look at getting a backup RT in free agency on a one year deal, but I would wait a week or so on that to see if a guy like Clabo would slide (and want to come back), or a Collins/Winston/Oher type. DE/OLB and TE I would exclusively address in the draft. While Ware would be great, he isn't coming here on a 3-4 mil a year deal, and I don't think much more than that is wise on the guy.

First round should be BPA at 6. My order would be Mack, Robinson, Mathews. If none of them, trade back and address the DE/OT/S positions in terms of BPA.

I see the second round either with a safety if one falls or a TE if a guy like Amaro slips. I think the value is there at that position. I wouldn't even be mad if they traded up a bit to get a guy that slips to between 29 and 33. If neither of those positions are a value, then address whatever was not addressed with the pick at 6 (OLB/DE or OT).

The 3rd round should be either a safety or TE depending on what other positions were addressed.

I don't think it is possible to get long term viability at DE/OLB, S, OT and TE with the remaining assets in this offseason. I do think getting either the tackle of the future or the OLb/DE of the future is paramount, and get some filler in the rest and hope guys in the 2nd and 3rd hit.

If Anthony Collins is still out there, TD has to go after him. Plays both OT positions, and does so very well. And even if we got him, I would still want to go for one OT in the first two rounds of the draft. Its time to build a great O line, not just a maybe-good-enough one. Relegate Holmes to the backup position he deserves.

With all the youth at DB, I do think we sign a FS vet to start. There are a couple still out there. If they do not cost an arm and a leg, I can see TD pulling the trigger on one.

I do think we have room for some guys like CB Lankster, RB Gerhart and C JD Walton. They would not cost a ton, and would be very valuable additions to our team.

(To open up FA money, some hard choices might need to be made. Releasing Biermann Osi Rodgers and\or HD would have to be considered IMHO).

With all the vet DTs we just signed, drafting a high round DT has just about fallen by the wayside. Going DT in the fourth back, will be the way to go. I think this opens us up to drafing a TE and Pass Rusher early on.

So maybe Khalil Mack, Morgan Moses, and a TE like Fiederowski or Nicholas in the first three rounds of the draft, along with OT and FS in free agency.

1 LB Khalil Mack Buffalo (6'3" 248)

2 OT Morgan Moses Virginia (6'6" 325)

3 TE Troy Nicholas Notre Dame

4 CB EJ Gaines

5 FB JC Copeland LSU (5'11" 270 plus)

5 FS/CB/KR/ST Marqueston Huff Wyoming (5'11" 198)

6 DT Ryan Carrethers Arkansas State (6'1" 330 lbs)

7 RB George Atkinson III Notre Dame (6'1" 220)

7 LB Shaquil Barrett Colorado State (6'2" 250)

7 TE Gator Haskins Marshall (6'1" 244)

We probably won't be adding another tackle unless G.Robinson falls to us in the draft. Simply because we signed two tackles already, M.Johnson and G.Carimi. We also have Holmes still on the roster. I see the Falcons relying in Tice getting Holmes to reach his full potential. He has the talent and made strides but was far too inconsistent, but he was a project to begin with.

FS we have to settle at the position. It's doubtful we are in a position to draft one. The good news is it will still be an improvement no matter who it is. Sign Champ Bailey. (Alternate Ryan Clark).

DE should be addressed with a free agent signing. Julius Peppers seems like the choice I think Ware and Allen get signed by other teams. (Alternate Justin Tuck)

#6 pick should be Khalil Mack. (Alternates Greg Robinson, Jake Matthews)

2nd round should be Cyrus Kouandjio if we get Mack at #6. (Alternates if OT is selected in round 1 Ryan Shazier, Kyle Van Noy)

I still want to stick with my mock and sign Champ, Pettigrew, and Terrence Cody. Anyone think they're going to run the ball on the goal line with Babineaux, Soliai, Cody, and Jackson?

hah, I dont like Cody as a starter, but the backup? come on up! it would be hilarious to lign up a 4 man front with Jackson, Soliai, Cody and Peters and make them try to push the pile.

Gerhart signed with the Jags, also the RB class is deep and I dont think its worth signing a FA, just spend a draft pick in the 4th-6th.

The run game still needs work. One above average OG isn't enough. We need youth at the position, TEs that can actually block, and probably a new FB too.

I agree.

History says a 30+ RB isn't something you typically want to expect big things from. Jackson will be 31 & has a ton of miles on him.

We've seen all Quizz has to offer, and it's not impressive.

Snelling is gone.

Anyone who thinks A. Smith is the answer if fooling themselves. He will be 29 when the season starts, and that is when even most of the all time greats start falling off big time, so I wouldn't hold my breath on Smith breaking out at this point. I know he had a few big plays in spot duty last year, but he's been here long enough that if the coaching staff honestly thought he gave them a real chance for success, they would have thrown him a bone. Especially last year when they had nothing to lose.

It's absurd we haven't just reached an injury settlement with Ewing & moved on. Our running game went from a force to a farce the minute we lost a healthy Ovi Mughelli. It hasn't been the same since. Yeah, some of that was Turner & the line, but having a solid FB to open holes is key in a power running game.

I think we are done with Free Agency and now focused on the draft
