CDuB2009
I think we may have slightly overpaid on Jackson and Soliai but I'm not really mad about it. They're going to help us stop the run big time. If Ware and Allen sign for around what Soliai got it may get a little tougher, just because I really think we need a rush guy more than anything,,,,maybe we're planning on getting Mack or Clowney at all costs. Which leads me to my next question.Do you guys think we're going to make any more signings? I'd really like to see Clemons inked here, just think he'd be a huge upgrade over DeCoud and should cost about what we were paying him. Other than that I'm not really sure, Collins would be nice but I don't know that we'll still have money left over. Saw someone in another thread mention Daniels, I think either him or Graham would come cheap and would solve our TE problem at least for the next couple years. Lornoth
Soliai's guaranteed money (or in this case, lack there of) makes his signing very cost effective. I really don't see how Jackson was overpaid when he's a young(ish) player that can play two positions on the D-line and is one of the best run-stoppers in the league.I still see us signing 1-2 more players, we have a bit of cap space left to play with even with these three great signings, all our resignings, and the draft. (Or at least, i think we do).TD has said he wants to try and get a TE in FA i believe, and i could see a cheap CB or safety being brought in. DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
I'm fine with our moves in a vacuum. In the context of what other teams have done, I'm less impressed. I can only hope that those teams pay great costs in the future as a result of what they've done today. But *******.
doveboss26
I think we will see more signings. We could entice a guy like Ware to play here, and with him being injured a modest prove it deal could be in play. But FS and TE need the most attention. Not much left at FS, maybe a guy like Clemons or Champ Bailey. Imo Champ makes more sense. At TE we have Levine and Coffman, we may actually stand pat at TE. Maybe, but not anymore than the Taints payed for Byrd AND we have decent players to fill our holes.I honestly don't see us picking up a TE. I think Toilolo will have a chance to prove himself. We definitely need a Free Safety though, I hate the thought of having to sign Ed Reed or converting Champ bailey, bit unless we can draft a late rounder and turn them into a quick starter, we're gonna have a pretty big hole in our secondary. theDIRTYcode
We got Jackson and Asamoah for roughly what the Saints paid Byrd per year. The Buc are paying MJ 8.5 a year. We havent over paid.

Not sure Champ would be able to take on a RB coming full speed ahead at him either. Clemons may not be great at doing it but he's not terrible either, can't picture Champ being anything but terrible at stopping the run. bossFALCON™
i really think that we sign clemons and then that's it for 2014 FA. Carimi came from chicago (tice), soliai came from mia (nolan), asamoah and jackson came from KC (pioli) so I think we go the nolan route again and get a S that can cover. after that all we'll really need is a LEO LB (Mack?, Barr?) and a RT. Clemons just seems to make sense. I don't think we can afford to go into the draft with 4 obvious holes, we'd be relying on a 4th round pick to start (potentially) barring a draft day trade. Wish I knew how much cap space we had now, if I knew it would make things a lot easier for my guessing game.

After those additions, it would just be depth adds in the rest of the draft (TE, RB, FS, etc.)I'm really hoping for Clemons tomorrow and then a draft like: Mack-Moses-Niklas-Sims. So one more FA addition make sense. Then we'd save $4-5 million for the rookies and keep a few milliom for an emergency (like we did in 2013).With that in mind, signing Clemons is feasible. We'd just have to structure the bonuses so that his cap hit stays around $3-4 mil.

I'd feel pretty confident in our team again. With those hogs eating up blockers we'd even mask the inexperience we potentially have at linebacker. If we have 10-12M I'd say we might as well try for Clemons and Graham. Should be doable and that leaves us just that much more room to work with in the draft. Can always draft a TE next year when we're a little more stable across the board. blizzard_falcon
We released him already I thought.Yeah, we did. I was already counting his release when I estimated our current available cap space. But it's hard to tell without details on anyone's contract aside from Solai's so far. We could have quite a bit more cap space depending on how TD structured the signings and re-signings.
