BifVg92CIAAp50I_zpse17848bb.jpg Looks like Loomis spent some more of Old Tom Benson's money..... The New Orleans Saints have spent much of the last week clearing salary cap room. On Tuesday, they decided to spend it in a big way. The team announced it agreed to terms on a six-year contract with safety Jairus Byrd. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Saints are paying him $56 million with $28 million guaranteed. Byrd will pair with second-year pro Kenny Vaccaro to form the best safety duo East of Seattle. Byrd, who was our No. 1 ranked player who made it to free agency, is the perfect deep middle safety for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to use. Byrd is also versatile enough to line up all over the field, giving Ryan countless formation options with Byrd and Vaccaro on the field at the same time. We've heard for weeks about the Saints' dire cap situation. They plan to trade Darren Sproles, which should open up even more space. It's possible that more cost-cutting moves are coming. This contract proves that teams can always find a way to make a big move in the salary cap era. Not too far removed from fielding one of the worst defenses in NFL history, the Saints' defense looks quite dangerous now.

1. Go watch the falcons the last six years and tell me how the secondary looked with no line. Over all defense ranking for the falcons was mid twenties 5 out of 6 years.

2. When brees is about done playing. You can bank on loomis and peyton gone. They destroyed y'alls future. Y'all just are now feeling only 2 million in space this morning because of brees. And next year is bad. But now with byrd, dag nam it sucks for y'all future. (i guess get prepared to break out the bags in three years and be happy with a top ten pick and being the jaguars).

3. y'all still have holes. Running backs (plural). Your line on both sides now. And line backer.

Great player. But wrong position of need for y'all.

Yes I'm jealous but what I said above is truth.

Something happen to our DLine I'm not aware of?

I visited TATF and they're saying the same thing.

The saints haven't lost one starter in the front 7. Actually they kind of picked up another from the return of Butler.

Some people see Smith being cut and Vilma not being resigned and think the front is doomed when neither played last season.

I figured he got his info from TATF. The inaccuracies were the first clue.

Yeah reading some of it was killing a few brain cells that I really need.

The downplaying of how good byrd is, is awesome.

I think the falcons and the Bucs have done ******* excellent so for.

No need to downplay that ****.

I think I read that they are trying to get Clinton Mcdonald. I almost rather him than Solei and I really like solei.

Spelling may be off on solei. Lol

Don't get so hyped on Byrd now.

(byrd is seeing what's to come and this is not Byrd in the first picture)

Weren't you on the Byrd bandwagon before we signed him ?

You can scan thru everything I've said. Heck i don't think i even had a comment on this guy before y'all signed him.

The first picture isn't of Byrd. That's Leodis McKelvin. And the second picture is of Byrd tackling White.

White had a great game. But was Byrd covering Roddy? I wasn't paying attention to who was covering him so I really don't know. I do know it would be unusual for a safety to be the primary coverage for a team's number 1 receiver.

In the Bills game Ryan was 28/47 for 311 yards. That's less than 60% completion percentage, lower than his season average of 67%. Ryan averaged 6.6 yards per completion, lower than his season average of 6.9. And Ryan's overall passer rating was 86.4, lower than his season average of 89.6.

So it looks like the Bills secondary, as a whole, did even better against the Falcons than most. That might not be the best game to use as an example.
