There's no switch in scheme."So this answers questions about what is the need to keep Osi, and also means we don't necessarily have to get another NT. Also means we could still be looking at Clowney. I think this will be good to be able to confuse offenses with different looks and be able to rotate and keep guys fresh. Pretty much also keeps all of our options open throughout free agency and the draft.

Falkonator
We have ran a Hybrid since Nolan was brought in, at that time it was a 4-3Hybrid incorporating 3-4 Looks now it's gonna be a 3-4Hybrid incorporating some 4-3 looks but ultimately we will, see more 3-4 formations

GEORGIAfan
Those guys saying we are running the 4-3 under "LEO defense" were probably correct. If you look at the 4-3 under. It is a hybrid defense where your guys line up over the gaps like a 4-3, but with 3-4 personnel, which sounds very much like what we are doing. We got a DE in tyson jackson who can handle the double team and stop the run at the 5-tech spot. We got a big space eater 1-tech DT.

ChickenBiscuit
Switching to a 3-4 defense will not magically solve all of our problems. Our personnel already knows our current defense, if we have the personnel to run a 4-3/3-4 hybrid better than an all-out 3-4, then why would we switch entirely? Romfal
I still think its bunch of huplah fed to the media, we are trying to keep all our cards for the draft, Yeah, we will always be a hybrid defense, but it will be from a 3-4 base not a 4-3 base from now on. Romfal
You dont hire a OLB coach if you dont plan to have a lot of LB rush packages.

Bawse
As long as we give Nolan full control of the defense, I am happy. We have the personnel now, let it fly.
GEORGIAfan
I think it will be more of a Ravens style hybrid defense. They run both 3-4 and 4-3 Under.http://russellstreetreport.com/breaking-down-the-ravens-hybrid-defense/Here is an article on the raven's hybrid defense. Looks very similar to the 4-3 under photo I posted earlier. Only difference is their OLB can have his hand in the dirt or be stand up. Here is another comparison. This time to the Seahawks, who run the 4-3 under LEO.
Geaux_Falcons
About what I figured was going to happen. Just can't change schemes in one off-season. You don't re-sign 4-3 under DT's to play them as 3-4 DE's and hope your 4-3 DE's can adjust to becoming 3-4 OLB's.
Dawg4life9228
I think it's a better idea to run a hybrid right now, even if we want to eventually run %100 3-4. We would need at least one 3-4 OLB pass rushing specialist, another NT, probably another 3-4 DE. We need to pick up a FS regardless of scheme. And then we still need to add to our o-line, get a eventual replacement at RB for SJax, get a TE, maybe another WR or CB. Changing from a 4-3 to a 3-4, no hybrid, considering our current personnel will take more than one offseason to accomplish. Plus like I said running a hybrid scheme will be much harder to prepare for offensively.

gazoo
I will decipher the meaning for you all: "we are not in the position to need to draft a rush OLB with our #6 pick because we are going to run a hybrid"This is draft smoke, we are converting to a 3-4 base or we would not have acquired BOTH Paul Soliai AND Tyson Jackson, especially at these numbers collectively. You don't pay a 3-4 DE Tyson Jackson that kind of jack if he isn't going to be instrumental moving forward. I am sure we could see some 4-3 alignments next year, but we are making a major change right now.

Dawg4life9228
Keeping the Clowney hope alive I see....Personally, I want us to stay at six and draft one of Robinson, Clowney, Mack, or Matthews. If they are all gone then we need to trade back. I never said I wanted us to draft Clowney, just said that this news keeps all of our options alive including Jadeveon. And look at that picture of Seattles D with the Safeties playing 6 yards off the ball. That is badass. They are daring them to pass. That is why we need a top flight FS

doveboss26
I don't see why there's such an uproar for strictly a 3-4. Using a hybrid and being as multiple as possible makes sense to me.And that's why resigning Babs makes sense to me. Babs IMO is about to have one heck of a year. He's a penetrating DT, let Soliai and Tyson take up two gaps and let Babs penetrate.
