g-dawg
OK, with the likely conversion to the "base 3-4" defense (yeah, yeah, yeah, we play multiple looks), and the signings of:Jon Asamoah, RG - Chiefs FALCONSPaul Soliai, NT - Dolphins FALCONSTyson Jackson 3-4DE - Chiefs FALCONSIt is now a little easier to guess the direction of the Falcons upcoming draft in a little under two months. I now believe that we will draft one of the following in the 1st round:Khalil Mack, OLB-BuffaloGreg Robinson, OT-AuburnJake Matthews, OT-Texas A&MI feel somewhat confident we will get one of these three players - obviously depending on which one will affect the 2nd round pick. I think we either go 3-4 OLB(1st) and OT(2nd) or vice-versa.As my friend Bill Brasky demonstrated with IMG in another thread, we are all just throwing darts - here is my dartboard:Falcons Draft "A":#1-006) Khalil Mack, 3-4OLB-Buffalo #2-037) Morgan Moses, OT-Virginia#3-068) Kyle Van Noy, 3-4OLB-BYU #4-099) Daniel McCullers, 3-4DE - Tennessee 4th comp) Justin Ellis, 3-4NT - La. Tech 5th rnd) Jerrick McKinnon, RB - Georgia Southern 6th rnd) Crockett Gilmore, TE - Colorado State7th rnd) J.C. JulioisCoolio
In the scenario that Mack is gone and Robinson is the one available, I could honestly see a trade down with as deep as this OT class is.

jidady
The point I want to make about Ryan Shazier is that his 41 TFL over the past two seasons are actually better than Barr (40) or Mack (39). And he can be there early in the second.
RYNE
Your not getting Dee Ford at 37 in the second round. You can just forget that pipe dream
takeitdown
I don't think it will happen but Robinson and Ford would be great.
Clark Kent™
Think thats pretty generous to have Dee Ford in the 2nd and Van Noy in the 3rd. I've read alot about Ford being a first rounder and KVN should be an early 2nd.
bamanut
Id like either option and id also enjoy double dipping with either mack/ford or grob/moses If it could happenOlb-mackDe-jackson mlb-weatherspoonNg-soliaiDe-babs. Mlb-worrilow Olb-fordWith actual depth behind them could be pretty good imo.

I understand the thought process but Robinson is a 8-10yr guy. Complete mauler, uber athletic. Passing on him is a bad decision IMO. Healthy Baker, Blalock, Hawley/Konz, Asamoah, Robinson/Matthews would be amazing.

Maltese Falcon
It all comes down to who did we fall in love with at the combine/pro days? How much do we believe in the deep OT depth of this draft? If we truly do, and did not fall in love with anyone yet - Both Mack and Barr are in play. We have Holmes, Carimi, and Johnson to fight it out at RT.We have Kroy, Mass, Maponga, Osi?, at OLB. If we are going 3-4 we need a pass rusher. We can get a 2nd round RT. Martin? Tony Diesel
Love both mocks; however, Daniel McCullers is 351 lbs and would obviously play NT in the 3-4.
jidady
How about we trade down, take Lewan. Pick up a 2nd, take Shazier and Jimmie Ward.....?With Aaron Donald off our board now (sorry, TATF) and Clowney a bit of a question mark as well, I think there is a distinct possibility of that. What would need to happen is that Mack doesn't get to us and we aren't sold on whichever tackle is there. In that scenario, I absolutely believe we drop back. jidady
We can get a 2nd round RT. Martin?Antonio Richardson is a phenomenal swing tackle. I think he is slightly better at RT, but he is exactly the sort of kid who could evolve into a LT long term with some good coaching.

Draft Van Noy or Zach Martin in the 2nd depending on who is available in the 1st. Then use the extra pick to get a FS

Atlanta traded five selections to move up 21 spots. Detroit would not have to give up as many premium picks, but it would still be a pricey move.
