Falcons Interested In Dl Antonio Smith

Recommended Posts

Exactly, apparently Atlanta isn't the apple of everyone's eye or the holy grail of football some people make it out to be here on the message board. People forget there are 31 other teams to compete with. Now the reality that I tried to explain time and time again is setting in.

Perspective if everything. Compared to the end of 2007, Atlanta is much more attaractive to Free Agents. Feel free to make a creditable argument otherwise, but it will be a hard sell for me.

I've lived in New York for the last 6 years. No one here cared about Atlanta 6 years ago. Now the average Giants fan can talk intellegently about the Falcons. They are considered a peer. That is a far journey in just six years. Just based on local sports talk and such, Arthur Blank deserves more credit than anyone. For some reason, he is seen as a 'players owner.'

more importantly to me it means we are not rebuilding just retooling with vets, draft picks dont come in and make the impact we need, (hawley konz johnson holmes mass sid jerry etc) , sign some stopgap vets who can still play and take back the division. Soliai,Smith and Jackson on the Dline would be great additions, obviously along with Asamoah.

The best part about Antonio Smith though, is his attitude. Watch him play, he's an animal out there, very aggressive, huge talker and big leader. Just what this team needs, a mean streak (also everyone mentioning Asamoah has one)

would be a nice sign for 1-2 years as a 3-4 end.

it looks like this change is real fellas.

DE - A. Smith, C. Peters

NT - P. Soliai, draft pick

DE - T. Jackson, M. Goodman

SIGN ME UP!

I'm not as big on Tyson Jackson as some. I can't see us signing 3 big money FA d-linemen either.

I dont know how much 'big money' would be involved for an aging DE and somewhat of a bust for a 3rd overall pick.

if we truly are converting, he would be a good stopgap. we dont want all players who need to learn the scheme. He has been very productive as a 3-4 end, and would help toughen the line up some as well.

I am all for him.

He's a very good 5 techs not bad as a stopgap i
