jfalconsp
Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 Phoenix reports free agent DL Antonio Smith is drawing interest from the Falcons, Panthers, and Bucs. The NFC South is hot after Smith, who also hasn't closed the door on a return to Houston. Smith, 32, can play in both 4-3 and 3-4 defenses as an interior pass rusher. He's racked up a respectable 27 sacks over the last five seasons. rugger8
With any luck, the Panthers or Bucs will get him. We don't need another 32 year old DE. We already have one who didn't live up to hopes and expectations.
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
I remember when we were all amped up last time he was a FA. I'd be ok with it but I think our money could probably be better spent elsewhere.
1989Fan
if we truly are converting, he would be a good stopgap. we dont want all players who need to learn the scheme. He has been very productive as a 3-4 end, and would help toughen the line up some as well.I am all for him.

1989Fan
is he really a journeyman? He played out his contract at the two teams he played, and HOU is interested in bringing him back.

Falcons_Frenzy
AnsweredExactly, apparently Atlanta isn't the apple of everyone's eye or the holy grail of football some people make it out to be here on the message board. People forget there are 31 other teams to compete with. Now the reality that I tried to explain time and time again is setting in.

Im not big on the " cream of the crop" free agents anyway. Paying a lot for guys out of house usually doesn't work out. And I emphasize "a lot".
