yoyo0
Strief and the #saints wanted the tackle to return to the team, but #nola isn't in a position to make an offer, the agent said. #saints tackle Zach Strief will become a free agent, his agent just told me over email. https://twitter.com/RVargasAdvocate (Saints beat writer for Advocate)

meezy0236
Losing Strief will hurt, I just hope there's a viable option already on the roster.

mvcrook
This will be a bigger loss than Moore and whichever RB they may part ways with.
falconidae
He's not gone yet- he may decide taking a little less money and playing for the Saints is worth it.
Dago 3.0
this would be the first significant loss IMO

meezy0236
silly you, Loomis is a f*cken rockstar!Been in cap H3ll since 2010, but yet has fielded a competitve team every year, not bad for that rock star.
Kevo
Strief has taken some heat from Saints fans for his run blocking, but I've always felt he was a very solid lineman.

st. diehard
Solid RT. Still may factor into the organizations plans once some additional cap room is freed.
meezy0236
Couldnt agree more, but who since 2010 did the saints have to cutt? The cuts that are being made are not detrimental to the team, it's just familiar names that's been with them for years. That's not to say those guys aren't still good, but this is the reality of the business, they weren't going to be with the team forever and like Dago mentioned some of those guys cap hit had grown more than the production being given. Every team will have to move on from aging vets with big cap numbers, it's not unique to the Saints. I'd rather them part with them a year sooner than a year to late. This is Loomis' job, and he's good at it. It's up to Payton and the coaches to get the new guys prepared and playing at high levels

If he can't well it's next man up. These cuts should have happen sooner rather than later but Loomis will still bring in players and Payton will make a competitive team. This ain't the first time we lost big name players. Hope the Saints will make room to offer Strief a deal tho.
