Pa_Falcon_Fan
I think Mike Tice and Nolan being signed for 2 years is an indication that next year is a make or break year for Coach Smith. Mr. Blank is smart enough to know that a coaching staff with 1 year left, coming off a losing season, is going to have a hard time convincing free agents to sign, so you sign the staff to 2 years to make sure they don't look like lame ducks. ol'_dirty2
With the signing of Mike Tice to a two year contract, does that send a subtle message that Smitty has two years to get it done or show massive improvement at least? Just wondering what the board thinks...
ol'_dirty2
****...my bad pa...guess we were submitting these at the same time.
1989Fan
I think 2 years is pretty standard to be honest.I do agree Smith will be coaching without an extension and his payday or release all depend on making it to, and winning in the playoffs this year. Pa_Falcon_Fan
No big deal ol'_dirty2. It just goes to show I wasn't the only one thinking this..
ol'_dirty2
Is Smitty's contract up after this season? Either way I think this short window speaks to the urgency of getting this thing fixed. I like the Mike Tice hire BTW.

Tribal Chief
That's what I thought. i think people read too much into some things...yeah. I'm not seeing how this is a sign of anything. Could it happen, yeah. But it's definitely not a sign of anything
AtlFalc78
Blank almost said it directly in his presser. Improve the team, get to the playoffs or else
Tribal Chief
This seriously did not deserve another thread. C'mon man. You just freakin commented in a thread saying the same thingComment was posted before thread merge
Dharma Initiative
Nope, if Smith was fired today they wouldn't make Tice the coach, they'd find someone else
WOR
We can have a 1st round exit in the playoffs and Smith will get another 3 years…...I firmly believe that. Just get to the playoffs and everyone will be safe. The excuse this year will be "Look at that turnaround!!!!"
IronHead34
Two years is about standard for most coordinators. Those guys hope to move up in the ranks, turn over is guaranteed. If they are good, they won't be around for two years.
