Is It Just Me Or Do We Need More Gadget Type Players

I have always pondered this thought on how players that can be used in different ways help there teams!I mean look at the gadget player on our team...

Biermann he is great on this defense an he is that DE/OLB/MLB we all know and love watching #71 chase down whoever whenver is just great.I hope Bierman retruns to form because this season just felt lost without him ever since that Rams game.

Snelling every likes Snelling he is arguably the most productive RB we got on the roster and he barely gets anytime to show what hes got but when he does he makes the bets outta his oppurtunity.

Now what i really wanted to come to is that why dont we draft players like this more i mean so far they have been pretty good on this team and there are many players like this in the draft coming up in May(i think) such as De'Anthony Thomas,Dri Archer,James Gayle,Vic Beasely,Michael Sam,etc. Why not give them a try?Thoughts?

This team does not need gadget players.

We need fundamentally strong lines and then a slight sprinkle of

Gadget plays to catch the opponent off guard.

The best Gadget plays in the NFL come from opponents that copy

your gadget plays and use them against you.

There is not one team in the NFL that prepares for this and it bites

harder than a pit bull on viagra.

We try to make Everybody a gadget player. It seems like if someone can't play at least three positions our coaches don't want them.

I love Kroy to death don't get me wrong but i'd rather have someone that can do their main role superbly than have someone that can do a couple things decently.

....wasn't Tavon Austin supposed to be a great gadget guy?

The problem I see with these types of players.. They are decent at a lot of things, but excel at nothing. That can be risky to emulate in the big leagues.

Once the rams really began incorporating him in the game he would take over. He also excelled in the return game. Just saying, Tavon Austin started to tear it up before he was injured.

In the later rounds sure. I would love to see a guy like Dri Archer brought in with a 4th or 5th rounder. After the first few rounds I think we should look for risk/reward guys like that. Let's be honest, we have enough mid-late round O and D linemen on our roster. Adding more isn't going to solve any problems. I think this year is a great opportunity to grab a few guys that can be projects. I'm not saying we are without needs, but we have drafted so many late round guys along the lines that I don't think another Maponga or Garrett Reynolds is going to make any difference.

I think this team is too full of gadget players

Offense

WR HD, Davis, D Johnson are all gadget players

TE Toilolo and Coffamn are gadget players catch --no block

RB Rodgers, Snelling, Smith are gadget players

Ryan is forced into being a gadget player because of no protection --- dink and dunk only

Defense

all DEs(6) are gadget players----- pass rush--no run stoppers

all DTs(5) ---stay put at LOS --no pass rush

CB McClain is a gadget player -decent slot --not good outside

I don't think that word means, what you think it means. A "gadget" player is a guy who can perform several functions on the field at a relatively high level. For instance, if we draft De'Anthony Thomas or Dri Archer we can use him as a receiver, runner, and returner. Quizz is the closest thing we have to this on the roster, but he is crap as a returner and only a threat out of the backfield as a receiver. I think it would be a waste regardless. Players like that don't fit Smitty's style.

We need a KR/PR with speed.

Whether his name is gadget. Or not, is not important

concur with PR

but with the rules change a few years back where they now kick off on a shorter field --most of todays kickers can always kick it out of the end zone

As Bosher said during the 2012 pre-season " I kick it where the coach tells me to kick it"

if a coach has a great ST he may kick it short but otherwise they will always kick it out of the end zone

SO a good KR is not as meaningful as it use to be.

I want a guy that does both.
