I just signed in for the first time in 6 months I'd say , I had not seen your post. But I'm with you man! Let's scream his name till draft time. Love the ability for him to run short out or in and catch the ball. Huge advantage. I think he may be in the 4th Because we have a high pick.

I like that. That gets two of the best offensive linemen in the draft, and I would be ok with getting one of the less expensive OGs in FA as well to start the season and then to provide competition on both left and right sides. It would also make the RT position more competitive. This would get our OL to average+, which is all that Ryan needs to have a winning offense.

We do need to address the DT position, however. Thrice. I'm fine with some younger FAs here, but it will be expensive to get 2 of the better DTs out of FA. I have to assume in this scenario that Hageman doesn't make it to our second pick.

I wouldn't be upset about this draft, but I'm ready to beef up our defensive interior. I also agree that we need a RB, but I'd go with Copeland a little later, and hope that he along with an improved OL brings our running game back to life, and get a RB in the draft next year, if we don't find one that works in UDFA this year.

Check out Quarles ... He's got huge upside.. has improved drastically every year ... The guy is very underrated. Perfect player for the pick, for us.

I don't have a problem with that pick. I'd like 1 player from this year's draft to become a long term quality+ starter, one young (25, 26yo) FA from another team to be an instant starter, and one of our own UFA DT's to stay short term (2 years or so), who might start until a drafted guy takes his seat. I'd consider McCullers in the 4th, though. If we're not going to take one in the first 2 rounds, then I want to double dip for a better chance at getting a stud DT this year.

Hard to gauge Matthews with Manziel running around behind him. I think he'll be a better pro than college player. But he does need to get stronger in the run game.

A&M hardly EVER runs to the left side. When they did they got stopped for a loss or had a very minimal gain. I hate reading that he's, "A mauler in the run game"...what fricking games are THEY watching??? The throws out to the wing where he was a lead blocker on he TOTALLY whiffed on his guy. I have yet to see anything warranting a top 10 pick.

sorry, but i am going to side with not only draftnut, but every expert who thinks Matthews is the top LT in the draft.

Draftnut puts more work into one mock than most do in every mock they have ever done combined. That is why you wont see many from him.

Draftnut, hope you have been well. Good to see you around again.

That's your opinion but the same guy you are backing said that Matthews is "underrated" when he's been talked about he could be the #1 or #2 pick in the draft....hmmmm a little bit of a contradiction there. To say Matthews is "underrated" is just plain ignorant to the fact that he's been mocked 99% of the time as the #2 pick by the Rams and listed as the best OT for the entire draft.

The entire point is moot because he won't be there and we should be glad he isn't.

Underrated would be the thread started about the LT from ND State. That's an underrated prospect there because he went to ND State and no one knows how he would do against NFL-caliber players. I saw Matthews personally get mauled by LSU, Mizzou, & Duke. I would go watch other games but saw enough in those games for me to develop my opinion on him and a few posters on here are in the same boat.

Again, it's just my opinion and you have yours and we disagree. We all want what is most important, for the Falcons to get back to playoffs and i'm okay with whatever players make that happen.

Like Antonio Richardson saw him play Clowney straight 1 on 1 alot of the time took his licks but had alot of good moments also.

Jake Matthews very solid player I'm not sure his ceiling is as high as some of these other OT's going. For me I'd have a hard look at Greg Robinson from Auburn or my sleeper of late from North Dakota Billy Turner.

So we would have two rookie LTs and Sam Baker making millions. Who do you put at RT? Who do you put at RG? We do not need to go OT at 6. Upgrades at C, RG, and RT would improve our OL dramatically. You can get that in FA and outside of the 1st round.

Matthews at OT. Richardson at RG.

I don't understand the other posters who are trying to hold it against Richardson that he can play OT as well.

He's a LT prospect. If he can't hack it there and has to move to guard oh well, but drafting an OT in the top 40 for the purpose of moving him to RG is ridiculous. Why not, you know, draft a guard to play guard. Plenty of good ones will be there in the 2nd.

This my thoughts maybe its because we have tried cross train lower rated talent and it burnt a hole in my brain wondering why but I'm with you pick the guy on his merits at his given position we have already got the fill in the gaps type guys already put together a unit full of specialists and lets build our o-line correctly.

Got to admit I don't watch enough NCAA to know beyond the big names, but Draftnut always has good info and insights, I could live with the instant upgrades on the OL and another piece at DT

I don't mind the crosstraining thing with the OL. Particularly the backups. Injuries happen and you need a couple of guys who can step in at multiple positions. I just don't think it is prudent to assume a guy can make a smooth position change and then use a top 40 pick on him. If you want a RG draft a guy you can actually evaluate at that position. Tiny Richardson has always been an OT.

I hate the idea of it if a guy is drafted to play a specific spot my common sense and him being a rookie why overload him he will have enough to deal with by just playing & training against better talent never mind the fact playing another position and getting used to the speed of the game in both spots.

Besides we have have enough cross-trained guys now we don't need anymore.ISo I'm hoping like **** we are in a position to draft a specific player for a specific spot.
