marvinthemartian
The one we have is awful and Chuck Smith seems like a no brainer. Discuss.
UnrealfalcoN
because he said he has other things to do than be a full time Defensive assistant
JC Falcon
He's never coached as far as I know. He does "technique" to teach guys, but that is different from scheming as a coach maybe?
toadfishtom
that is a very good question, if Chuck can coach the game the same way he played the game we would be much better off than the present situation
hjerry
This question assumes that Chuck Smith wants to be an NFL coach.
raysnill1
Chuck has been a coach at University of Tennessee and he has also lobbied for the D-line coach position here. so I guess AB ain't feeling Chuck like that which is odd since most of his pupils have been successful and get a lot of sacks.go figure

The Falcon Jedi Knight
Probably because he was a Player, and not a Coach. Just because you hear him on the radio all the time doesnt qualify him to be a coach
marvinthemartian
This I am unfamiliar with. Link?If Arthur wanted Smith he would have him over to the house, feed him lasagna and make it happen. I dont know how he would do as a NFL DL coach but he would almost certainly be better than what we have now.

Therefore he is not a Coach

Chuck is a die hard Falcon and he even volunteered to coach and train Jamal Anderson & Bierman, both turned down his servicesI know that he's volunteered to give free lessons to some of our players. I'm pretty sure that Bierman actually went to his camp last year. However, I am unaware of him saying, word for word, that he wants to be hired as one of our coaches. Giving lessons in the offseason, and being a full time year round coach are different things, after all.

He was at Tennessee and I'm almost positive he was on the Jets staff with Rex Ryan just before that.As someone said maybe he can come in as a consultant.
