Cuts

Sjax

Nicholas

Asante

Matthews

Robertson

Dimarco

Nissley

Reynolds

I think its time we move away from the old RBs and start fresh at the position, love sjax but its time to move on. Nicholas has shown he has a little left these past couple games, but its obvious he's being phased out of the lineup. Asante is overpaid and too injury prone, hes served his purpose, time to let the youth play in our young second round pick. The last four are just pieces that hasnt shown enough to warrant a roster spot in their time here, some of them havent even shown enough to get on the field.

These moves should leave us at roughly 28.5 mil in cap after adding gonzo and cap rollover.

Resigns

Peters (year 1- 2 mil)

Hawley (year 1- 1 mil)

Mcclain (year 1- 1 mil)

Coffman (year 1- 600k)

Davis (year 1- 500k)

The late season injury will hurt peters stock but make no mistake he has earned a new contract, it will be slightly lower now because of the injury but he will get paid. Hawley has shown me enough to deserve a resign and the chance to keep his starting position, hes shown the most fire out of all our lineman. Mcclain if nothing needs to be resigned for his punt return abilities alone, he will challenge for the nickle role but tough competition will be added. Coffman and davis are nothing more than depth resigns for cheap.

Free Agency

DE Michael Johnson (year 1- 6 mil)

OG Jon Asamoah (year 1- 3 mil)

CB Tracy Porter (year 1- 2 mil)

DT Vance Walker (year 1- 2 mil)

I dont see us having a shot at clowney at number 6, but we can do the next best thing and sign the best young DE on the FA market. Im of the belief that we need two young talented passrushers, one from FA and one from the draft. Johnson will take osis spot and make him a situational player till his contract is up. RG is our weakest point on the oline that we must address, i think adding a young vet is the smartest way to fix it and asamoah is one of the best. Porter will replace asante as the veteran leader of our young CB crew. Hes also young enough that he could become a permanent resident and take over the nickle if mcclain falls off. Lastly vance walker is a talented player that we unwisely let walk, time to make amense as our DT core is down to one with peters being the only one on the roster. Walker will be a good compliment to peters in a strong DT rotation.

After all our resigns and FA pickups we should be sitting at about 10.5 mil on cap space and set to hit the draft.

Draft day trade with tennessee, we trade round 1 pick 6 for their round 1 pick 10 and round 2 pick 47.

Draft

Rd1. Khalil Mack DE/OLB

Mack is a bierrmann type player and will fit perfectly in nolans scheme on the other side of johnson as well as moving all over the defense like kroy.

Rd2. Aaron Donald DT

Donald is a specialist at penetrating the line and racking up tackles for loss, he may be a bit undersized but lets not make a russell wilson type mistake by letting him pass us up, he is a game changer from pittsburgh.

Rd2. (Via tennessee) Tre Mason RB

Mason is a monster out of Auburn, this guy has it all from vision and running threw tackles to break away speed. Mason is a talented player and i think atlanta would be wise to move on from jackson and take mason here.

Rd3. JaWuan James RT

We need some more competition on this oline, especially at tackle. I wouldnt be surprised by midyear to see holmes starting at LT again with james starting on the right and baker back on IR.

Rd4. Dan mccullers DT

This man is huge, he commands double teams and takes advantage of his one on one matchups.

Rd5. Jon Halapio OG

Imo the more oline competition we have the better and its time we start building depth. Halapio is a pretty good pass protector and will make a nice depth piece.

Rd6. Jay Prosch FB

Prosch is a human hammer out of Auburn who brings the pain every play. He led the way for mason at auburn and he knows masons tendensies so he will make a great compliment to mason. Its time to move back to the more ovie type FB and move on from the oft injured ewing.

Rd7. Spencer Long OG

Long was a projected top 100 player till he got injured, he is a great value pick in the seventh and could become a steal after starting his career on IR. nothing to lose with this pick, alot to gain.

The only thing I see wrong with this is you have Mack playing LE in our system which I don't see him being successful at. The other thing is, why pay for another RE (Johnson) and put the one we have already on the bench (Osi). Dimitroff will not pay a player starter money to be a back-up.

In my mock I have us flopping 1st round picks with Jacksonville (6th for 3rd) and throwing Umenyiora in the deal for the rights to draft Clowney. We will get a young Pass rusher and Jaguars will still get a QB and a veteran pass rusher to go with their other one

good points but i see mack as a player that can play multiple positions, why dont you feel he can play LE. I understand your thoughts on osi and i agree to an extent, i think we should add as much talent as possible on thi dline and osi is a good vet. 3.5 mil is a bit high but i dont see it affecting us if we have the cash. We can always dump him next year if we deem him unuseful or even before the year begins, either way i end up with all the players i want. Now if you were to say we cut osi and go after a FA tackle or something then id understand the move. But the idea is the have the best roster available and osi is still a strong pass rusher.

I doubt we get Asomoah for a 1year 3m contract. If he hits market, he'll be expensive

no thats not meant to look like a one year deal lol, they are all multiple years besides a few, those are just the projected hit for their first year. Im not an expert so i try not to project full contracts. Definately multiple year on asamoahs deal though

Yeah I want the Falcons to resign Peters and sign Joesph/Soliai/Dareus and Lamarr Houston

Bartu has played decent enough this year to split playing time with Biermann at SLB next year.

not sure about dareus but id be happy with most of this, my only argument towards soliai is his age. We really need to youthenize this team and let all the old players walk. But i wouldnt be pissed to see him here either.

Don't like Mason. I'm worried he may be more of a scheme guy.

Don't like McCullers.

I hate drafting a FB.

We need a better TE than Toil.

Holmes at RT?

Mack at DE?

Biermann as a full-time starter?

This is a good effort for sure.

we may not like it but yes holmes is gonna start for us at tackle next year, id almost put money on it (but im broke :)), i think the coaching staff likes holmes i dont think they are gonna sit baker and holmes will be at RT. Not sayin i like it but thats what i believe will happen.

Biermann when healthy is definately a starter, he may not be a starter at any one position but he will start somewhere every game. I dont see what all the hate on biermann is, our defense took an obvious step down the moment he went down eith injury. He's nolans trump and he will be on the field alot.

As i stated before yes i believe mack can play multiple positions like kroy and i think he'll be used the same way.

I do agree on the TE thought but i feel the same way about FS, i just dont feel that every hole can be fixed in one offseason. Maybe we could take a shot at signing dennis pitta if the money works out but its up in the air at this point.

As for mason and mccullers, i like both, mccullers is a good project in the third and mason has shown me more than enough to believe he definately isnt a scheme guy. I feel mason is the best back in this draft.

As for the FB, well im not sure how the front office is gonna take this one, this is two years straight ewing couldnt get on the field. I think its not out of the realm of possibility that we take another full back and in the 6th its not that big of a deal IMO.

I was just surprised because most people think he played pretty poorly at RT in comparison to LT.

I don't hate him at all. I just think he is best as you said as a trump card and a player you can move around and rotate in. The type of player that doesn't start but is your most important backup on the team who gets the most playing time.

I'd rather have Biermann and DE and Mack at OLB.

Yeah that's definitely a fair point about FS/TE>

i just see both kroy and mack as the same type of player, i guess i wouldnt neccessarilly say one or the other starts at either spot because i think they will both play both spots, just wasnt sure how to list it on a depth chart without just penciling them in as starters because i think they would both be starters on this team. I see all your points.
