Unknøwn
Pennlive.com is reporting that representatives of Titans coach Mike Munchak andBuccaneers coach Greg Schiano have made inquiries into the Nittany Lions job if, in fact, O'Brien departs. Porter Osborne Jr
I wonder how true that is.
rohan_mehta86
This would not surprise me, especially Schiano. I'm not sure if Schiano can be a high quality NFL coach. He is probably better suited to the college game.
Dawggone
Actually think Schiano would fit perfectly there if O'Brien did leave.
Turkeydawg
If I were O'Brien, I'd pack my bags and get. I could see Schiano putting out feelers, as he is going to be looking for a job shortly. He is much better suited for college.
Unknøwn
Schiano might get 1 more season at best but Munchak knows he's a dead man walking. I believe Munchak was even a candidate before O'Brien was hired. Even if Schiano is told he's safe for 2014 he would bolt for Penn State. Porter Osborne Jr
I thought Munchak turned them down flat last time.
Unknøwn
I found the article and Munchak was reportedly the top choice of Penn State in 2011 but he did of course pass them over. However at that time he was in his very first season of being the Titans HC. Now he's on an extremely hot seat and probably won't survive beyond this week so it makes sense he would let Penn State know he's ready to take the job now. Unknøwn
I believe Schiano will be named the head coach at Penn State pretty quick. I could be wrong but it makes a lot of sense on both sides. Sports Illustrated was reporting PSU was gearing up to lure him from Tampa before he was even fired. Shotty Nice
Schiano could end up being a great fit for them. He recruited Pennsylvania really well while at Rutgers. Unknøwn
Reports coming out that O'Brien was tired of the politics in the college game. He was also tired of hearing from the "Paterno people". Which would explain why he got the NFL buyout in his contract lowered just before the end of the NFL season. Unknøwn
He didn't name anybody but the Penn State AD did confirm that coaches have been calling him to express interest. He said they expect to hire somebody within a matter of days not weeks.
