5. Atlanta Falcons: We stuck a fork in Atlanta after only seven games, and they've proceeded to win only one game since. Julio Jones is valuable, but he shouldn't be this valuable. Atlanta's defense has problems at every level.

Having everyone count us out at 7 games is ridiculous. Even without JJ, we should be able to scheme/game plan better to account for play makers not being in the line up. Defense is the biggest issue on this team, Nolan's M.O, of taking his foot of the gas, and playing it safe after the half is killing the defense. I hope to see some major improvements in the offseason on both lines. The coaches need to step up.

if you think the second half let downs started when nolan got here then you haven't been paying attention

Not to this degree, the biggest knock on the regime before Nolan/Koetter was that if we did not lead going into the second half, we would ultimately lose the game.Nolan has a history of letting of the gas at the second half. It has become more readily apparent through his stay here, as well as in Miami.

well obviously we didn t have the lead at halftime in all of those games.

We lost the lead in most games in the second half because of BVG's terrible playcalling. What happened during that regime, has no bearing on this current situation. As well as Nolan's second half issues have been with him though Miami to here. He's better than BVG, but the second half, he noticeably lets off the gas, as opposed to BVG who just can't coach period.

The best defenses of all time had a good-to-great running game to keep them off the field enough so that they were fresh more often than not. That Ravens Super Bowl team a dozen years ago might have been the greatest most dominating D that ever was. However...they had a 2000 yard back on offense (obtained with a traded Falcons' draft pick). And a very good O line.

In shiort....you cannot leave your D on the field for 35 minutes each game and expect good things to come of it.

Yes, Julio was the only player hurt this year lol

exactly......where do people come up with these half baked opinions based on utter ignorance of the situation? Its as of this writer just saw a clip on Sports Center that Julio was hurt, then logged on NFL.COM to see wha out W/L record was, and then commenced writing this article.

This guy needs to pull the fork out of his forehead before sticking it in the Falcons.

I've been saying it for years....fans HERE write better stuff about the Falcons than almost anyone in the media. The media is paid to produce....and when stating an opinion, which is merely a personal interpretation of facts, no sportswriter is going to be called on the carpet for not being accurate.

Guest Negatorris

We weren't winning with JJ so why would we win without him? Defense suffered injuries everywhere and have sucked all year. Same with the offense. No offense with Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez, and Roddy White should be averaging 1 TD per game. Shows how important having a great OL is. Peyton Manning would be below average behind this line. Our offense resembles the Cardinals after Warner retired.

It's not Nolan M.O. to step his foot off the pedal. You obviously don't remember how our defense played before Nolan got here. We gave up leads plenty of time during BVG era. It's not the coordinator fault, it's call Smittyball.

Oh I remember BVG's playcalling quite well. Nolan's previous stints in Miami would prove that his M.O. isbacking off in the second half. Obviously you don't follow any other team besides the Falcons.

People like to roast BVG but I still haven't noticed a big difference between his D and Nolan's D. At least he showed some kind of fire and passion when coaching. He also kept our Lbs swarming to the ball and making plays. On the other hand, im willing to give Nolan another year to get his type of players and then see what he can do.

Ps. BVG for Lbs coach!

Sorry Glen Pires.

It's so easy to just point the finger at one guy and say, he's the problem. Get rid of him

and problem solved. But once again I say consider this. Look at last season's roster and

compare to this season. Players gone:

Abe, Walker, Robinson, Owens, Peterson, Sidbury, R. James, Mitchell, Chris Hope. Regardless of

what you think of the talent level of each player, consider the number.

Now add in injuries to Spoon, Biermann and Samuel, not to forget the bad performance by DeCoud

and you begin to realize that Nolan was given a group of a lot of rookies and 2nd yr players with little

playing experience and they're expected to play together as if they have been doing it for many years.

Essentially this has been a rebuilding year with championship expectations. The two didn't add up.

But to me the future looks brighter.
