The Hawks announced Wednesday that rookie guard Dennis Schroder has been assigned to the NBA Development League. He will play for the team affliate, the Bakersfield (Calif.) Jam.

Schroder, the team’s first-round pick, is averaging 3.7 points, 2.5 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 13.9 minutes in 11 games this season.

The 20-year old has played sparringly of late. Schroder has not played in seven of the past 10 games, including the last three. In the three games he has played since Nov. 15, he totaled 37 minutes, 27 of which came in a blowout loss to the Rockets last week. He committed a combined seven turnovers games against the Knicks and 76ers Nov. 13 and 15. That began the recent string of sporadic play as Shelvin Mack assumed the backup point guard duties.
