Theyhateme : )
As much as I'd like to see the DL fixed....I'd have to go with fixing the OL and giving the offense the opportunity to consistently put points on the board.
Gibson's Finest
Yeah. This could be a tough decision as to what line needs fixing first. I'd also have to go with o-line since they gave Matt Ryan $100M

GTJeff1975
DL and its not even close. That has to be the worse defense I have seen as a Falcon Fan. If the FO drafts an OL in the first, I give up.
the_sheff
OL.Its clear our team is going to be built to win games on the offensive side of the ball. If you ignore the OL given that philosophy then you are wasting everyone's time!
north falcon
I vote DL. The key to success in the NFL goes in this order#1 - Get a QB#2 - Get to the opposing QB
roman42
O-line, if we build a dominant offensive line, we can run, if we can run we control the clock, can use play action, keep Ryan on his feet, thus helping the D. But I want to see a nasty mean defensive players in here soon.
Dharma Initiative
I don't know how anyone can say D line. Its obvious the O line is the worst we've never had and completely hinders Ryan, Roddy, Tony, Jackson and Julio from doing anything

capologist
Both can be fixed though, no need to choose either or. You can draft for both sides, you can hire a new D-line coach. You can sign free agents (we'll have plenty of money to do so)...
Farmer2
This is a no brainer for me. The O line is the #1 priority. We've got all kinds of weapons on O that we can't use. Matt gets hit on 3 step drops and we don't create holes in the running game. Yes the d line is just as bad, but we can dictate the clock w/ a solid O line. niels petersen
I think that our OL is the biggest problem on our team at the moment, but at the same time I feel like it is easier to fix the OL with "lesser" players than it is on the DL.So if you ask me about the draft, I'd say go DL in the first round, and then use our 2nd and 3rd rounders on OL.. Big, tough and strong guys are what we need and that can be drafted outside of the first round. I wouldn't mind a great OT in the first, but I think there's more overall value by going DL first and then OL in the draft.Regarding FA, I think that we could get a decent G or T there. Maybe even a C if we wish to do that. I think the FA market for DL is a lot more "muddy".What we need to do first though, is get a new OL coach! Without that, we won't see significant improvement next year. Edited December 2, 2013 by niels petersen
isproab
If I had to choose one, I would day DL. We have guys that are out that have done the job before on the OL, I'm talking about Sam Baker. We signed him, so we have to live with him. Plus having Julio back changes how teams play us, no doubt. On the DL, we have nobody that can consistently win. We don't stop the run, we don't rush the passer.
XXVIII-III
Even with our pisss poor o-line, we put up enough points on offense when we are healthy. However, even when our defense is 100% healthy, we still get minimal pressure on opposing QB's. Fix the d-line (first step is drafting Clowney, but we seem to want to pick outside of the top 5 with the way we played in Toronto) first, then fix the o-line via free agancy. Farmer2
Last year when we were healthy, the defense was the problem. The problem on the O line isn't health, it's talent. We flat out do not have a starting quality C or RG on the roster. Our team is set up as an offensive team. It's pointless to trott out a top 10 QB, 2 probowl wr's and a probowl RB behind this line. Plus, AB is going to want his 120 mil investment protected.
The O.D.B
I've debated this allot with myself. Ultimately, the D is young and getting better. Yes, we could use a few pieces but, Oline for once in Matt's life needs to get the help and become dominant in run blocking and protection. Oline gets the lion share of my high value chips. I'd like to see us pickup both Jackson and Richardson in the draft and get a strong DT and fast big CB on D.

A good DL doesn't win games when the offense can't move. A good OL can win games if it makes the offense move.

Isn't that the best scenario? Also, if we have 2 probowl WR's and a "probowl" RB, shouldn't that spread the defense out a little? Julio is injured and Roddy was hurt for a while. Teams played us very differently than they would've if they were healthy. Also, Baker IF (a huge if) healthy isn't horrible. The defense is bad with or without injuries. No players. The defense needs players.
Kaptain Krazy
Top of the draft focus has to be on DL, because talented DL get taken first. A big priority for the Falcons OL is RG, which don't get picked in the first round. Also, easier to get quality OL in FA than quality DL. 1st round (if it's top 5 pick) - DE2nd round - DT or OL3rd-5th rounds- OLI have concerns about Matthews, short-armed OTs can look really good in college because they have good footwork, then get beat in the NFL when the weekly DE talent is better. But if he really is a GREAT LT prospect, LT is a position worth a top 5 pick. Clowney would be my first choice if he's available.
trashmetalx
Has to be O line. With our weapons we could put up 40 ppg with some semblance of an O line. It'd be great to fix the D line cause it's plagued us for so long but you still have to score to win.Hopefully we just fix both and get rid of Smitty and Dimi while were at it! quotemokc
All we need is a half decent O line, Having a tremendous D wins you games
Dharma Initiative
I think our o-line has been at best, decent, the previous years before now. We should be scoring 40+ a lot more often with the skill players we have. But Ryan still has to dump the ball off quick, just not as quickly as this year
