Braves Hire John Hart

By Steve Adams [November 22 at 2:51pm CST]

The Braves announced today that former Rangers and Indians GM John Hart has joined their front office in the role of Senior Advisor of Baseball Operations (Twitter link).

Hart has spent the previous eight seasons as a senior advisor to Rangers GM Jon Daniels and spent the previous four seasons serving as the club's GM. He also served as the Indians' GM from 1991-2001 -- a period of time in which they won six division titles and played in two World Series. He won Executive of the Year honors in 1994-95 with the Indians and has also served as a TV analyst for the MLB Network.

the article sounds like its a good hire but ya never know

This is a great hire. He has an awesome track record as a baseball man. Was a minor league manager for the Orioles from 1982-1987. Orioles 3rd base coach in 1988. Hired by the Indians in 1989 as a special assignment scout. Took over as the Indians on field manager for the final 19 games of the 1989 season posting a record of 8-11. Took over as the Indians GM in September of 1991. Was Indians GM from the 1992 through 2001 seasons. Served as the Rangers GM from the 2002 through 2005 seasons. Hart has had some say one way or the other in the drafting of the following players in his career:

Jim Thome

Brian Giles

Alan Embree

David Bell

Manny Ramirez

Paul Byrd

Paul Shuey

Richie Sexson

Steve Kline

Dave Roberts

Russell Branyan

Danny Graves

Jaret Wright

Sean Casey

David Riske

John McDonald

CC Sabathia

Ryan Church

Brian Wilson

Luke Scott

John Danks

Ian Kinsler

Scott Feldman

and many other noteables.

Veteran front office man who had a really good run with the Indians and a so-so one with the Rangers as a personnel guy. I'm sure he got a lot of good experience on the front end in day to day operations and other aspects after he moved up within the Rangers organization. This is a typical Braves hire.
