First anniversary coming up in two weeks, trying to book some kind of weekend getaway for misses and myself. Don't want to drive farther than 3 hours from Columbus, preferably less, so no Savannah, Tybee Island, St. Simons, etc . . . Atlanta is obviously an option, but it's not our first necessarily. Would like to spend less than $400 for two nights. Come at me with suggestions, brose.

Thought of those, they're right down the road from us. We've stayed in them with friends before, and they're nice, but there's not really any restaurants or anything else to do up there.

Yeah its just a spot to get away from everything. Probably 20 minutes from me. We took our own groceries

They'e right next to Callaway Gardens. If you're the outdoors type at all there is a ton to do there now. They've added quite a bit of activities

Also, a nice restaurant right outside Pine Mountain is called Crickets. It's not 5 star, but a nice date place

The Garden Restauant is a great place

and there is a pretty nice buffet restaurant in the CG lodge called The Plant Room

Lastly, I've never been there but Carriage and Horse restaurant is supposed to be great, but a little pricey.

Edit: Happy Anniversary

This is probably what's going to happen. I haven't been to Ruth's Chris in forever, but I feel like that is cliche. Never been to Bones. Any suggestions?

Say no to Ruth's Chris. It's not bad but nothing special or unique. Bone's is the spot! If you've never been it's a must. Great steaks and wine list. Right in the heart of Buckhead. I've heard Rathbun's Steak is great as well but I haven't been. If you both love Italian and want to do it up big hit up Sotto Sotto....you will NOT be disappoint.

You said you didn't want to drive too far, but I'd take 431 South to Panama City since you crossed Callaway off of your list! You can always get a room at the Sheraton in downtown Columbus and see some of the local sights for the weekend (probably too familiar with the area though, so excuse me for suggesting). Otherwise, Atlanta it is (or FFS Macon or Montgomery!!!)!

My man, I don't know how far away you are willing to go, but me and my wife enjoy going to Jekyll island. You have to stay at Jekyll Island Club though. Fabulous old hotel with lots of history. There is good dining, carriage ride tours, A sea turtle museum. I don't know, we enjoy it. It's more relaxing than anything. Also, this time of year there shouldn't be to many tourists.

  • 2 weeks later...

Going to Auburn for the weekend. In one year of marriage, plus two years of dating, we have never been to an Auburn game together. Staying at the hotel on the Robert Trent Jones course, going to the Auburn game (scored free tickets from some friends) and eating at a great restaurant Saturday night.
